SOURCE: Forgot password.
Which operating system?
For Windows XP and earlier, use "The Ultimate Boot CD."
(DO NOT Pay for it. The CD is a free download from the company, or you can get it off of most of the share programs out there.)
Will reset the system passwords and you will lose nothing.

If you have the restoration disks that either came with your system or have created them per the owners manual. If not, you could use a third part software such as kon-boot which is free to create a boot disk that will bypass the user password.

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.
if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings
hope this helps
