Sometimes, Printers spool everything into it's own memory banks. Once there it is a pain to stop sometimes.
Best solution is to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver, Also your spooler service may be having issue. If you are using Windows xp and a Lexmark or dell printer then it will happen alot more often.
