That is a bad sign for sure, it sounds like the video board itself could have problems, or the sensor that detects the bulb could have failed... even a mainboard problem can cause that light to light up. There is no way to know for sure unless you can spot physical damage on one of those boards.

Also is this a Samsung HLP5085W ?

Let me know and I can keep helping

Yes after researching this here I would say it is very dire indeed. You definitely will want to look into
replacing this unit. Also hopefully you can return the new lamp, many places will still take it back.

If not you can definitely sell it on ebay.

    Thanks
    Tim

Triangle and light bulb after replacing with new lamp

The board that connects to the lamp socket is called the ballast. It controls the lamp operation. The problem you have points to that board.

Exclamation point in triangle blinking on dashboard

Hi, The exclamation point in triangle blinking is the "Emergency Blinker" This blinker turns on all all of the turn signal lamps at all four corners of the car. Left and Right, Front and Back. The triangle represents the European symbol for roadside emergencies. In fact on European Mercedes and other cars there is a triangle shaped reflector you can put behind the car so that other drivers know you have an emergency. THAT TRIANGLE ON YOUR DASHBOARD IS A BUTTON. PUSH IT ONCE. THE BLINKING SHOULD STOP. If you have a roadside emergency, and are broken down by the side of the rode. Push the Red Triangle and your lights will blink on and off ouTside to say, in effect "help".
Hope this helps.
Best,
Mark

I have a light on my dash with an exclamation point enclosed in what looks like parenthesis with verticle lines underneath. It's yellow. Do you know what it is?

If it looks like a deflating tire with an exclamation mark inside, its the check your tire pressure light.

If its a triangle with exclamation mark inside its the check engine light.

I have a yellow upside down light bulb with an exclamation point inside of it lit on my dashboard. What does this mean?

This is a warning message about a burned bulb of a car lamp. Check all car lightnings: tail lamps, headlamps, turn lights, stop lamps, reverse lamp, fog lamps, ... Replace bad bulb(s). That's all.

Replaced bulb now shows only triangle with exclamation mark. no picture and nothing else works

Check your lamp door. If it looks good, remove it. Now, push the lamp door up. Reach around the TV with the remote and try to turn it on. If it comes on, your lamp door wasn't on right. If it doesn't, you may have something going on below the lamp. It the lamp exploded, the hot glass fell out of the lamp and went down into the cooling fan below. It may be stopping it from turning. I hope this helps, best wishes.

How long does a lamp/bulb of a Toshiba DLP 46HM95 46 in last?

Your bulb may be blowing because of airflow issues or power cycling issues, first does your outlet get switched off at any point in time? if so you may be killing the bulb before it cools, if you turn the set on/off alot and or restart it after off quickly this could lead to permature bulb failure, if the original lamp was not replaced with a proper lamp to match the ballast it could blow the bulb. If your tv is too near a heat vent or the airflow thru the set is not adequate it could blow the bulb.
