Hmmm...the fax line goes into one of the two phone ports..I believe it's the on more to the center. Good news is that is that one doesn't work, then the other one will..

Hi! I need some help with my fax/printer. I have a Brother MFC250C. I need to fax more than one page and am unsure how. I have lost my instruction manual. Thanks.

With most faxes you just stack the pages in the machine and it pulls them through one at a time like a printer pulls paper.

HOW DO I SEND A FAX ON THE BROTHER MFC-5440CN? LOST MY MANUAL

To send a fax, you will have to configure the settings. here are the steps you can follow;

Remote Fax Options;
You can only use one remote fax option at a time:
Fax Forwarding—OR—Paging—OR—Fax Storage—OR—PC FAX Receive—OR—Off.
You can change your selection at any time (Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1).

Setting up Fax Forwarding

When you select Fax Forward, your MFC stores the received fax in the memory. The MFC will then dial the fax number you’ve programmed and forwards the fax message.
  1. Press "Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1".
  2. Press ▲ or ▼ to select "Fax Forward". Press "Menu/Set". The LCD will ask you to enter the fax number to which faxes will be forwarded.
  3. Enter the forwarding number (up to 20 digits). Press "Menu/Set".
  4. Press ▲ or ▼ to select "Backup Print:On or Backup Print:Off". Press "Menu/Set".
If you select "Backup Print:On", the MFC will also print the fax at your MFC so you will have a copy if there is a power failure before it is forwarded.
5. Press "Stop/Exit".

Programming your pager number When Paging is selected, your MFC dials the pager number you’ve
programmed, and then dials your Personal Identification Number (PIN). This activates your pager so you will know that you have a fax
message in the memory.
1. Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1.
2. Press ▲ or ▼ to select Paging.
3 . Enter your pager phone number
followed by # # (up to 20 digits). Press Menu/Set.
Do not include the area code if it is the same as that of your MFC. For example, press 1 8 0 0 5 5 5 1 2 3 4 # #.
4. If your pager needs a PIN, enter the PIN, press #, press Redial/Pause, enter your fax number followed by # #. Press Menu/Set. (For example, press 1 2 3 4 5 # Redial/Pause 1 8 0 0 5 5 5
1 2 1 2 # #) —OR— If you do not need a PIN, press Redial/Pause, enter your fax number followed by # #. Press Menu/Set. (For example, press Redial/Pause 1 8 0 0 5 5 5 1 2 1 2 # #)
5. Press Stop/Exit.
■ You cannot change a Paging number or PIN remotely.
■ If you have set Paging, a backup copy of the received fax will
automatically be printed at the MFC.

Setting Fax Storage
If you select Fax Storage, your MFC stores the received fax in the
memory. You will be able to retrieve fax messages from another
location using the Remote Retrieval commands.
1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1.
2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select
Fax Storage.
Press Menu/Set.
3 Press Stop/Exit.
Setting PC Fax Receive
If you select PC Fax Receive, your MFC will temporarily store your
received fax messages in its memory, and then automatically send
the faxes to the PC. You can then use your PC to view and store
these faxes.
1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 1.
2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select
PC Fax Receive.
Press Menu/Set.
3 Press ▲ or ▼ to select
Backup Print:On or
Backup Print:Off.
Press Menu/Set.
4 Press Stop/Exit.
If you have turned on Fax Storage, a backup copy will
automatically be printed at the MFC.
  • Before you can set up PC Fax Receive you must install the
MFL-Pro Suite software on your PC, make sure your PC is connected and turned on. (For details, see Using Brother PC-FAX software on page 5-1 in Software User’s Guide on
the CD-ROM.)
  • If you select Backup Print:On, the MFC will also print the fax at your MFC so you will have a copy if there is a power failure before it is sent to the PC.
■ If you get an error message and the MFC cannot print the faxes in memory, you can use this setting to transfer your faxes to your PC.
Turning off Remote Fax Options If you set the Remote Fax Options to Off and there are faxes in your MFC’s memory, the LCD will give you two options.
  • If you press 1, all unprinted faxes will be printed and erased
before the setting turns off. If a backup copy has already been
printed it will not be printed again.
  • If you press 2, the memory will not be erased and the setting will be unchanged.
Setting your Remote Access Code

The remote access code lets you access the Remote Retrieval features when you are away from your MFC. Before you use the remote access and retrieval features, you have to set up your own code. The default code is inactive code (--- ).
  1. Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 2.
  2. Enter a three-digit code using numbers 0-9 or . Press Menu/Set. (The preset ‘ ’ cannot be changed.)
  3. Press Stop/Exit. Do not use the same code which is set in your Fax Receive Code ( 51) or Telephone Answer Code (#51). You can change your code at any time by entering a new one.
  4. If you want to make your code inactive, press Stop/Exit in Step 2 to restore the inactive setting (--- *).

Fax cord lost

I think that that is a regular phone line type cable/wire. Check with your owners manual to be sure. If you have misplaced your owners manual then follow this link to download it. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-lYwGyrh5jMw/p_280MX300/Canon-PIXMA-MX300.html Looks to be a regular USB cable to connect printer to computer. If still unable to determine if this is the correct cable call Canon customer service at 1-800-385-2155

Hope this helps. Ratings are very important to us so I want to thank you in advance for taking a moment to rate my response.

2410 xi all in one printer will not let the phone hang up in the fax mode

Hi,

Thanks for the additional info.

First of all, if you live in any of the following countries, you must make sure that you use the 2-wire phone cable that came with the printer instead of standard phone cable:

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Greece,
India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Latin America, Malaysia, Mexico,
Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain,
Taiwan, Thailand, USA, Venezuela, and Vietnam.

Secondly, I would strongly suggest that you download the latest copy of the users manual for your machine from the link below. Make sure that your connections are the same as those in the manual. There are also troubleshooting steps that are simply explained in the back of the manual:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/bpu70241.pdf

The next thing to be sure of is that there is a dial tone at the phone that is built into your fax machine. If you are on a VOIP system (in other words, if your phone service comes into your home via your cable TV line or the cable company provides your phone service), then the cable modem/router must be configured to provide a dial tone to the outlet the fax machine is plugged into. To test if a dial tone is present, simply follow the normal fax procedures (they are also in the manual). When you tell the machine to fax, you should hear a dial tone just before your hear the tones of the fax number being dialed. If you don't, then your problem is with the cable company.

Sorry for the long-winded answer. Please let me know if this helps!

Hp officejet all in one

I assume from your message that you mean you can't print a document from your computer or send and receive faxes. Chances are, you'll have to reinstall the printer, just the same way as when you first bought it and hooked it up to your PC. Also, the operating system on your computer is going to make a difference. For example, if you originally hooked the printer up to a Windows XP computer and now you're hooking it up to a Windows Vista computer, you'll need to install different print drivers.

I don't know if you have the original manuals or disks that came with the printer. If not, a good place to start would be to download the manual from HP.com. That'll at least get you started:

Manuals page

It would be really helpful if you were to post what steps you took to connect your printer to your PC once you got the printer out of storage. Also, how long had it been in storage, are you hooking it up to the same PC or a different PC than before you put it in storage, and are you hooking it up to the PC differently now than before (printer cable vs. USB cable, for example)?

Thanks.
