Code is F20, what does this mean?

Hi

Error F20 means Water Inlet Problem-no water or insufficient water supply. This issue can appear due to faulty inlet valves or due to blocked inlet hoses. Also check the filter screen at inlet valve, clean them if they are dirty. Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power. Now check whether water faucets completely turned on? Make sure that the water inlet hoses are not frozen. If above things seems to be fine then you would need to replace the water inlet/fill valve.

Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information. Daniel

Possible causes for HF error. It is in the cold

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You are right, FH error indicates an issue with the water supply; this error occurs when after 30 seconds the control does not detect the water entering the machine and the valves turn off & error code is displayed. Check the cold water inlet valve for any clogs and try to clean it, also clean the screens in the inlet valve. If still it’s not resolved then the only option is to replace the valve. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Whirlpool duet washer flashed FH. I hit cancel load after i turned water back on now it won't do anything but sit there and buzz. What do I do?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error code F/H means no water was detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip not detected. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. It can also happen if the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash. You’ll need to Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display and then check:

• If there is no water in the unit:
• Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
• Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
• Verify inlet valve operation
• If there is water in the unit:
• Verify Drain pump operation
• Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and
Pressure switch
• Verify there is not a siphon problem
• Verify wire harness connections to; Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump,
Flow Meter and Central Control Unit (CCU)
• Check all hoses for possible leaks
• Verify pressure switch operation
• Verify flow meter operation
• Verify CCU operation

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

My whirlpool duet washer is filling with water when it is off. it only drips, but two days in a row it was filled up above the bottom of the door openeing and spilled on the floor,

This problem is either attributed to a defective water inlet valve, or defective pressure switch. An easy way to determine which one may be causing the problem is to unplug the washer, but leave the water taps on. If the washer continues to fill, you have a defective water inlet valve. If the water stops, I would recommend changing your pressure switch.

Post back and let me know if you require further assistance. I hope this helps you.

Probably a good assessment. I wasn't trying to second guess your repairman. I just wanted to make sure you were able to have the knowledge to eliminate some of the possibilities yourself. That way, you feel a little more confident that you're getting the correct repair. It sounds like the solenoid is probably clogged or scaled up from sediment. Let me know how things turn out for you.

Water in leaking into tub overnight

One of the solenoids in part #8181694 is not closing completely. This part is easy to replace.
1. Turn off the water from both inlets and unplug the machine.
2. Unscrew the hot/cold from the machine. You may want to use a bucket to collect the 2 cups of water that will pour out of the hoses.
3. From the rear of the machine, use a #20 torx head to remove the 5 bolts holding the top cover.
4. Slide the cover back and lift to remove.
5. See the attached picture. The red arrow in the upper left corner points to the inlet valve.
6. Note the color of the electric connections. The white plugs are on the right. The black on the left. Unplug these.
7. From the rear of the machine, remove the #20 torx bolt which holds the valve in place.
8. Using pliers, pinch the hose clamp and pull the rubber hose from the inlet valve.
9. Lift out the inlet valve.
10. OPTIONAL : Connect the valve to a garden hose using a female/female hose bib. See the attached picture. Turn the part upsidedown and shake it. This will loosen the solenoid and some water will squirt out. Turn it rightside up and see if the valve seals itself. Repeat if necessary. Repeat on the other inlet. In the picture you can see the leak coming from the valve.

jse, most of the time when I run into this problem it's because of the flow meter. This is a reed device that sits in line with the water inlet valve and monitors the water coming into the machine. Things to check; make sure both water valves are on and that the inlet valve screens are clean. (You get to them by removing the hoses to the washer). The drain pump filter is clean. (Remove the bottom panel and unscrew the pump filter and clean out). The inlet valves are actually working. That the drain hose is not too far down the standpipe causing a siphon. All the harness connecting to the inlet valves, pressure switch, drain pump, flow meter and main control are seated properly. You will have to remove the top to get a look at these. Three screws on the top backside and it slides of toward the back. If all these things check out. Then I would suspect the flow meter itself. Easy job. Catriver..

Swede, you need to replace the water inlet valve. Part number 8181694. This is an easy fix. Just remove the 3 screws that are in back holding the top on. Slide the top back and you will see the valve. Couple of screws and a clamp and it will come right off. Catriver..post back.
