Ice and water dispenser will not shut off

GE side by side --no way to get into this area from the freezer door. Has a soft white pad that gets depressed inward when you want ice or water. This is the second episode of this happening. It was repaired several years ago for just this samething. Just wondering if it is something we can fix.

Water not coming out from water dispenser

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , turn on the dispensor light for several hours , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .
If the door line is frozen , GE has a heater which is easily installed , to keep this from happening again pt # WR49X10173

I have a GE Refrigerator GSS22JFMD WW with a ice

The water supply in the recessed part of your door is frozen. very common with this model. You will need to turn unit off and with freezer door open use hairdryer on the area where water dispenses and on the recessed area as well. This is time consuming but only other remedy is to leave off and door open for 24 hours. hope this helps.

GE gss22sgrf sidebyside water dispenser does not work, ice does

these unit have a problem with the water line freezing inside the freezer door. ge makes a tape style heater that goes inside the dispenser area to give just enough heat to keep it from freezing the water line.
you can try to change the freezer settings, warmer, clean the coils at the back of the unit and leave the freezer door open for 20-30 minute to allow the door to warm up and that will be a temporary fix to allow water to flow until you can get the heater kit.

Stuck water valve/switch on freezer door for dispensing water/ice

remove covers, possibly use a drop of 3in1 oil onto the switch and run the switch through a few cycles, if that doesn't unstick it then you will need to replace the switch

GE sidebyside, I have no water coming out of the dispenser. I did change the filter. I can hear the water sensor come on/orr when I push the handle (dispenser that engages the ice/water).

If determining the water line is frozen , there is a water dispensor heater kit , which comes with installation instructions , pt # WR49X10173 .

Rust ruining door at lower corners of ice/water dispenser.

when you dispense ice or water, you are allowing the drip tray to overfill and the water builds underneath the tray until the water reaches the point were it will leak down the front of the door. the water will rust the panel beyond repair. you will have to replace the whole door at this point. hope this helps.
