I have a Danby DUF1596WE standing freezer. There is ice build up on the back wall. The fan is making a very loud noise. The freezer is still working. I had to shut it off due to the loud noise.

The chances are that the ice buildup is now in contact with the fan, hence the noise when fan hits ice.

As a short term fix, power the freezer off and let it defrost naturally, this will cure the immediate problem. In the long term, I presume that this is a self defrosting freezer, so you appear to have aproblem with the defrost cycle. You MAY find that a long power off and defrost will cause things to reset and it may well cure your problem anyway

I have a Kenmore elite bottom freezer model. The fan started making a funny noise.

The evaporator fan is located at the back of the freezer. It may be necessary to remove obstructions such as the contents of the freezer, freezer shelves, ice maker and the rear inside panel of the freezer. The rear panel may be held in place by retainer clips or screws. Remove the screws or depress the retainer clips with a small screwdriver. Check the fan for warped blades. if the blades are warped or mis-aligned, replace the blade. This fan also is protected by a shroud as well, and it will make noise if the fan blade is damaged and rubbing against it. Check the rear condenser fan as well for faults. It is possible that the noise is coming from the motor itself. If that is the case, you will need to replace the affected motor.

Our frig is making a loud noise every 40 min.

That's usually mounts inside the compressor. It could still last awhile so if you can put up with the noise just wait for it to quit before replacing the compressor or getting a new fridge. If it doesn't seem to be coming from the compressor you have two fans, one in the freezer and one near the compressor which could be noisy from hitting ice or wearing out.

The fan is making too much noise

Hi. You didn't state which fan you are having issues with, so i will address both areas.

The condenser fan is located behind the refrigerator. It may be necessary to remove an access panel to reach it. This fan has a shroud, and if the fan blade becomes warped, it will rub against the shroud, causing noise. This fan blade is whole, and it can be removed and replaced if this is the case. Ok, the next problem spot will be the evaporator fan.

NOTE_ If the fan blades are not warped, and rubbing against the shrouds, this will indicate that the motor that rotate the affected fan is damaged. It must be replaced, in this case.

It is still cooling but was making a loud sound unplugged it over night now it seems to be working again, what made sound and will it come back

Good day,
Motors make noise. There are three motors. One behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment.
Another in the back rear of the machine, called a condenser cooling, fan motor, and lastley, the compresssor itself which is locacated in he bottom rear as well.
One reason could be ice building up around the freezer fan motor and hitting the blades of the fan.
If it is a Whirlpool/Kenmore make then that fan motor could be going bad.
But without a make and complete model number that's all the info I can provide.
As well, we'll need to know how long it takes to re-appear, and if it is constant or intermitent noise problem.

Everything seems to be workin but i have a wierd noise coming from inside the freezer

The evaporator fan is behind the rear cover inside the freezer. It could be hitting ice or the mounting bracket.

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

LG Fridge making intermittent sound - like something hitting fan

GAIN ACCESS TO THE FAN IN THE FREEZER(EASIER SAID THAN DONE) AND INSPECT THE FAN BLADE AND FAN SHROUD. HAVE REFRIGERATOR TURNED OFF AND MANUALLY ADVANCE FAN BLADE. WATCH FOR SLIGHT CONTACT BETWEEN THE FAN BLADE AND OTHER OBJECTS NEAR IT-ELECTRICAL WIRING, FAN SHROUD, ICE CYCLE,ETC. ADJUST FAN BLADE OR OBJECT TO INCREASE CLEARANCE.
