Question about Toshiba SD-2710 DVD Player

1 Answer

Hi Guys, I have Toshiba DVD player SD-2710 that has blown the internal fuse on the circuit board. Fuse: F801, 125v, T1.6A. Meter shows short to ground at the fuse prongs, but I'm not sure what points to check beyond this. Tried another fuse but still blows ( as anticipated ). Visual inspection of the board shows no bulging capicitors, no heat stressed resistors, etc.. nothing obvious. Any ideas? Thanks, G

Bosch SRS53C02GB/27 tripped circuit fuse, Changed plug fuse still no sign of life

Has the circuit breaker / fuse in the meter box tripped or blown as well? If the machine tripped or blew a fuse, it is common for the heater element to be the cause or you have a water leak internally and its shorted something.

I was useing my dvd player and it shut off and now it wont turn back on

HelloPower supply board of your DVD player has the fault. Just open the top cover of the payer and locate the power inverter board. It can be detected very easy, as power chord goes diret to it afte the mains ON/OFF switch. There will be a fuse [a glass cartridge type, slided in to a fuse socket. Just pull it out and check it with a multimeter for continuity. If the fuse is good, the meter show deflection. Otherwise it has blown up. You have to replace the fuse with same type in both diamension and ampearage. It ampere rating and volts will be marked on its metal rim at the edge. The fuse can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart selling shops at your town. But, before replacing the fuse, you have to troubleshoot the reason for the blown out of present fuse. There will be some reason for this fuse to blow out, if it is found blown up. Check the supply board well before replacing the blown up fuse. It is really a skilled job indeed, you must have knowledge in electronics, and experience in servicing electronic circuit boards. OK.

After I put a fuse in the player, and plug into wall, the fuse immediately blows.

Your fuse blown again because you have a short on the circuit. You may visit my link for more info.
I've suspect that you have short on rectifier diode/main filter capacitor/regulator IC/transistor. This is quite fixable.
Hope it may help you.
Thanks for using fixya.

I plug in my DVD player and I get nothing, not even the power light comes on....

You have a power supply problem, if the cord is detachable from the player make sure it is snug tight, next pull the cover off and follow the cord to the power supply board to see if the fuse is blown, the other thing I come across is a bad capacitor near power transistor but this will require some technical know how. One final thought, check your unit on another wall receptacle.

When I plug the unit in and try to turn it on, nothing happens. toshiba sd-3980 dvd player

The internal fuse is blown.

It may be a replaceble glass cartridge fuse, or a fuse soldered to the power board.

Unplug, remove top cover, check and replace fuse. Radio Shack has reasonable coverage of fuses.

But - fuses usually blow for a reason. It could have been a power surge; it could be an internal failure. If the new fuse blows, it needs professional replair. Many of these are so cheap to make that it doesn't pay to repair them - replace it if the repair estimate is over 1/2 the replacement cost.

I cannot get power on dvd player is plugged in properly

Check to make sure the fuse hasnt blown in the Plug, if thats fine then there is a problem with the power board inside the dvd player, this could be down to a blown internal fuse which has blackend due to a short circuit, then thats an indication that some of the parts on the DVd player power board have shorted.

Toshiba DVD player will not power up - totally dead, but fine last time it was used

Either the fuse under the cover is blown, or your power supply is shot. check the fuse first, by removing dvd cover.

Neither fan or compressor will com on

You have a short circuit in the system at some point. A blown fuse on the circuit board indicates a short in the control circuit. Tripping of the breaker indicated a high voltage draw from the compressor. Check the compressor motor terminals with the wires removed and the power off. Use an Ohm meter from a terminal to ground. You should have no reading. If you have any reading the compressor motor is shorted out and the compressor is done.

Toshiba SD-V393

It's blowed up REAL good.

Do you have a volt meter? If so, measure the power outputs of the power curcuit.

This won't really help, since if you measure the power and it's good, something on the rest of the board is bad. If the power is not good, you have to repair the power supply. If you don't know anything about electronics troubleshooting and soldering, there's no point to trying.

There is no simple owner doable solution to a problem like this.
