SOURCE: Sharp Microwave turn table turning irregualrly

You can see and hear a YouTube video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven. You may have to cut the cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

You can probably find an exploded view and order parts by entering your model number here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com

Sharp parts are usually less expensive when ordered from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com

SOURCE: Microwave does not heat

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwave that heats the food. The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave . Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing. There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.

Weak magnetron, or transformer, not worth repair as the cost of parts alone can buy one to two microwave ovens.

SOURCE: The light inside the microwave oven doesn't work.

in the first microwaves they had the sence to install a small sqaure plate were the light was (as they blow every 1-2 yrs but as the years went on it was presumed to be to expensive to do so. so now to replace the globe we have to take the whole top cassing off ounce done youl see the clobe there are two types unsrewable and fixed place. remember this formost microwave ovens hold up to 1000 volts in there capacator regardless of time so there very dangerous to work on but so long as you dont touch any other wires youl be fine try to unscrew the globe there may be sticky tape to stop it rattling loode - cut it if it undoes replace it if in like most cases i wont budge its a sealed globe and needs to be replaced by a lic teach this job should not cost more than $ 15 for parts and half hrs service charge

good luck

Was heating something when it made a zinging noise and now thothing is working no lights or power

My same microwave did this about a week ago... repair people said the part that surrounds a fuse had burned through. 350 to fix it, I am considering just getting a new one since I have now found that mine has had a replacement part fix done after a recall on this microwave. If you have not read the recall info you can find it easily by doing a search for Kitchenaid Microwave recall. There will be a small green square sticker by the serial number if yours had had the recall repair done already. Mine had but I still have had this recent problem even after the recall repair.

Built-in microwave: display works but oven does not.

You didn't mention your model number. If I knew that, I could check to see if it's one of the models subject to a recall for failed membrane keypads.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

Oven just went dead, no lights, no power etc. checked power source and everything works fine. Sharp Model R-9H66. looking for repair in spokane , WA..can you help?

Possibly the internal fuse. Unplug unit, remove all case screws on the back of the micro. Slide the case toward the back and remove. Look for a glass tube type fuse, simular to automotive fuses of the past. It should be located near the controls. If bad, the internal wire will be broken or burned, I have been able to find replacements at Radio Shack. Take the old one with you. If the fuse is good, I'm sorry, it's beyond my microwave knowledge level.

Same issue with my Thermador Microwave!

You may want to look into the possibility of a "panasonic" (specifically a "genius" model) microwave unit that should fit there nicely. most of those Thermador 3 component units had the m/w built by panasonic. (though you'll not get them to tell you that)

I'd like to add, I find it unlikely your's is "burned beyond repair". what is the problem, if you'd care to elaborate.
Perhaps your m/w can be saved, or revived.

Sharp Microwave Display intermittently working. Most of the time can't see time or countdown.

Only way this can repaired is to replace the whole display. If the unit is still under warranty take it to your local Sharp Service Center.

Otherwise, it is more than likely beyond economical repair. If you can live with it as is and just use it for short reheating you'll be fine, but the display will not improve. It can also be a safety issue as you could accidentally put in too great a time and burn foo, or even yourself with the contents of the microwave.

Microwave oven will not work

Seems like I've answered this before, but the MR5493G is subject to a recall due to defective keypad (membrane switch) and can be seriously dangerous.

See: www.allworldauto.com/recalls/samsung_microwave_mr5493g_recalls_1420-10455-1.html

The MR1032BB is also under recall. See: www.motorbeat.com/model/samsung+microwave/mr1032bb/

If neither is covered under the recall, you should be able to order new keypads here: http://www.samsungparts.com/search/search.asp

If not, we'd be happy to help you. You'll find a link to our site in our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

GE Microwave turns itself on

This is usually because the keypad is damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

BTW - Isn't this beyond the one-year warranty period? If so, it's not likely a recall will cover it.

We have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel. It's very helpful when troubleshooting.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

Or if you don't want to do ti yourself, we regularly repair these for customers nationwide for $39.95 plus parts.
