The AIO printer/scanner/fax/copier was replaced by Canon, after a bit of delay, mainly due to the local tech not knowing what to do. The power supply was gakked (my technical term). The solution posted wherein verifying the semi-internal cord was connected was valid, albeit months late.

    Thanks.

Error e197y

E197 0000 Printer engine communication error
Erroneous communication between the DC controller PCB and
image processor PCB was detected.
- Check the connectors of the DC controller PCB and image
processor PCB.

What I've seen is that code comes up occasionally and can be reset by turning the copier off and on again. Bad input power caused this. Check the power from the outlet and also check to see if you have a good ground. If your problem ends up being power.....call an electrician or plug it into another outlet that tests ok - do this before a board gets damaged and you end up with a code that cannot be reset and have to replace one or both of the boards mentioned above.

Error E197

hi,

the part is hard to fit if you have never done it before. If you plug the power straight into the lower half of the machine, does the printer section start up.

If not then it will be the Lower Power Supply as you have said.

i have got this down to about 1 hour to fit but i have been doing this machine now for 2 years. it is a big job and requires alot of space and time as you have to strip it comp down. I would say to maybe look at hiring a engineer to do it.

Depending what country you are in depending if i have any contacts that would help you?

Hope this helps!

I believe a E197 error refers to a power problem relating to the fuser. I would remove any covers to access the fuser, remove it and reseat it and any nearby connectors.
