How dd the freezer get cold all parts

Most problems with lack of freezing in part of the freezer is a matter of overloading the freezer. Things get frozen in the freezer by the circulation of air. If the air gets blocked the food will not freeze, same thing occurs in the fresh foods section, if the air from the freezer is blocked to or from the freezer the fresh food side will not cool properly. Make sure in the freezer there is a path down the back of the freezer and up the front for air to circulate to and from the evaporator coils in the back.
Hope this helps

Top section of freezer dept; food not frozen

Your freezer fan is not running. Defrost for 12 hours then switch on again. Normally that will be the solution. If it still does not cool correctly after that, call a technician as equiptment will be needed to sourse the fault.

Older hotpoint top freezer freezer working fridge not

When the freezer is working and the fresh food section is warm this usually means a problem with the air flow. All the cooling comes from the freezer there is a fan in the freezer that blows air into the bottom. Check to see if it is working. Also Check if there is an accumulation of frost on the back of the freezer. If there is you have a defrost problem and will have to figure out why it is not defrosting. Hotpoint had a lot of trouble with the defrost heater burning up. It is at the bottom under the evaporator coils. Check it for continuity. There is also a thermostat clipped on to the evaporator that can be faulty as well.

Top freezer is functioning, but the refrigerator isn't.

Check to see if you can feel the inside fan. The fresh food section is cooled by the freezer only. If the fan is not running the fresh food section will be warm. Also make sure the damper is open between the freezer and the fresh food section. It is controlled by one of the two knobs inside the fresh food section. The knob that turns the unit off and on is the thermostat, the other is the damper control. They are sometimes confusing the way they are named by factory.
One of these two things should be your problem

Make sure the freezer fan motor is running. Remove the rear panel in the freezer and check for frozen coils. If coils are frozen replace the defrost heater and thermostat.
Check the air vents to the fresh food section, are they frozen closed?

Freezer will not keep foods frozen fridge will not keeep temp.

Sounds like a main control board problem keeping the freezer fan from working . If no air flow to the top of the freezer , the icemaker will stop working and the ice will begin to melt ( leaking from freezer ) . The coils will start to freeze up due to no air flow across them . If continued for a period of time , the cold air could return thru the return vent located in the bottom of the ref/freezer section and freeze the water tank in the refrig section , causing the no water thru dispensor .

Whirlpool Refrigerator fresh food section cool but not cold (freezer ok).

The most likely problem is in the defrost system. Behind the freezer panel there is not only an evaporator fan, but also the evaporator itself, and a defrost heater, termination bi-metal, and drain pan (or trough). You will likely find ice build-up in the evap coil. This could be caused by the defrost timer, the heater, or the termination bi-metal.
Have a service tech look at the unit.
