Blurry partial picture on a 42" rear proj tv

Since it was moved the last time, my 42" rear proj tv developed a blurry area in the lower left corner (which i believe has increased a little upwards recently). i have been told that the rear lamps are probably out of alignment but it is cost prohibitive & illogical to spend so much $$s ( i can probably put another 100/200 & buy a new one! any suggestions!!!

In most cases, when you have a blurry spot in the corner after moving a proj. tv it is caused by either an adjustment needed to convergence in service menu or a crack in the mirror. The easiest way to find out which problem you have is to look inside. On most 42" sets the speaker grill comes off and the screen can be removed revealing the tubes and mirror. Some 42" sets you have to remove screen from behind set. Be careful mirror is very thin and fragile. Make sure if unit has a collapsable back that it is pulled into fully extended position. If you are patient enough and very careful only to adjust what needs adjustment, you can probably find the service code for your set online and perform the adjustments yourself. On older sets small door behind grill reveals analog convergence controls. Hope this heps fixya.

I have a sony projection tv and the screen is curved and blurry.

Need new convergence amp ic's and probably a few resistors.
Cost you about $30.00 for parts.
Search for keyword "convergence".

Sony rear projestion TV has blurry picture.

sounds as if your convergence needs to be set. either through the menu on the tv or remote you need to get to the convergence set screen and you need to line up the crosshairs. this usually happens when the tv is moved or bumped.

Blurry picture

The CRT fluid in the blue and green tube are most likely clouded. The set is still good. You just need to replace the fluid. Check with the site www.TvRepairkits.com - they are working on developing a fluid kit that includes a photo instuction quide.

Screen goes from blurry to clear to blurry

The first thing to check is for loose conections, the problem is related to the high voltage but it can start in the main board with one component loose, when the high voltage is developed it goes to what is call the distributor block,a lot of sets have the focus and screen controls coming out of this block for each picture tube, this block might be bad but before we go to him we need to check everything is solid in the main board. If you are familiar with electronics you can remove the back cover and tap the chassis with a wooden or rubber handle to see if the set reacts,if it does you need to be atentive what area makes it react and flip the board to do some resoldering,If you are not too familiar with tv service you need the assistance from a servicer.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.
