Virus protection programs are not installed on new computers. Most like you are not protected.
I suggest you install one of these free virus programs.

My HP 6750 locks up constantly and I have to force a reboot..Why ?

it may have some cross-linked files, you can try running check-disk to repair the disk, but you probably have some spyware or a virus. the best solution is to reinstall the software and make sure you have up-to-date antivirus/antispyware software. that is the only way to make sure the computer is completely clean. the software is supposed to be reinstalled from the original disks every year anyway. you can get avgfree antivirus at avgfree.com, i would also suggest you install spybot search & destroy spyware tools. i also use spyware blaster. you can download those from majorgeeks.com. if you would like to try removing the viruses/spyware first, i would suggest you try an online scanner tool at one of the major antivirus websites. norton's, computer associates', mcafee's, trend micro's, etc. it is very difficult to remove a virus using software on an infected system, so you have to use an outside source that is 'clean'. you should also be running a firewall for security, such as zonealarm. the free zonealarm firewall can be downloaded at zonealarm.com.

I have bought mcafee cd from the store and after i restarted the computer my computer freezes at the windows xp screen. how do i fix this?

Hi
I know this may sound childish but the answer right now is to remove Mcafee. Do this by going into SAFE mode. Press F8 while the computer is rebooting. Once at the SAFE menu select SAFE mode with networking. Once into SAFE mode goto START, Control Panel, Programs and Features. From there uninstall Mcafee. I had you go to the network mode because now you will need to download the Mcafee uninstall tool. This will remove the remaining pieces of Mcafee. Once all this is done go to normal mode and please check to make sure you don't have any other anti virus programs installed - these will definitely mess with Mcafee. If there are no other anti virus programs installed I have to assume it was a virus or malware that interfered with your Mcafee install. Unless you have them already I would suggest you download and then run these programs AVGFREE.exe, MALWAREBYTES.exe and SUPERANTISPYWARE.exe. You can download these from www.download.com. Once these are completed, we know your system is clean, now run the Mcafee install and everything should work fine. Good luck

Hi

Here's the order in which things should happen. First download and run these programs AVGFREE.exe, MALWAREBYTES.exe and SUPERANTISPYWARE.exe. This will eliminate all the virus'e and spyware. Now you can download and run CCLEANER.exe. This will eliminate all the garbage in the file system and the registry. Now if need be you can download and run PC_DECRAPIFIER-2.0.0.exe. All these files you can get fro free at www.download.com. Good luck

Dell Dimension 5100 Video Driver update needed

I've seen SB2.exe listed as a virus and I've seen it as a wargame. Can't find out anything as to how it reates to spongebob. As far as putting the driver on a flash drive. Go to support.dell.com. Enter your Service Tag number. Now go to the driver list and select download only. When it asks for location make sure you indicate the flash drive. The download will be a file i.e. Rxxxxxxxx.exe. Now place the flash drive into the Dell, go to the flash drive and click the Dell file. Everything should fine after that. Just as a precaution, I suggest you download AVGFREE.exe, MALWAREBYTES.exe and SUPERANTISPYWARE.exe and run these.

Try running a virus scan using AVG(cuz it's free) and use CCleaner (also free) found by googling avgfree and ccleaner. antivirus will kill any possible infection and ccleaner will clean out any **** slowing it down .

My computer keeps shutting down. I dont have any security on my computer and I can't download the security that is supposed to come with my subscription to comcast.

try here for a/v and antispy. i recommend avgfree, avast or avira for a/v. superantispy and/or malwarebytes for anti spy, threatfire for unknown malware, and adaware for adware.
use only one anti-virus, the others can be loaded together as long as they don't scan at same time.
you may get a warning about adaware when an anti-virus is present but there won't be any problems with it.
all are free software.

I bought a new HP 2133 mini note pc which has Windows Vista on it. I have been trying to download the avgfree 8.0 antivirus program. It keeps telling me that one error is occuring. It says Action failed...

Try this link to download it...

http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe

This maybe the same link you have already tried. If it is, just do a google search for AVG free, it's available from several other places.

You also need to download a patch for Vista and AVG to work together, if you go to this link ...

http://www.avg.co.uk/uk.faq.num-1066#faq_1066

You can download the patch from microsoft via AVG website, you need to select FAQ number 1177 then choose the download according to your OS ie 32bit or 64bit.

Hope this helps.
