Question about HP Presario SR1710NX (CPQSR1710NXEL426AA) PC Desktop

Can't access certain websites

I recently put on and then took off CA Security Suite. I have had problems accessing certain websites ever since. I have supposedly removed the software but still have problems.
The network diagnostics for Windows XP says "the likely problem is firewall client running on your machine is blocking the necessary FTP ports......"
I dont really know very much about computers.....can anyone help?

Hi,

Check to see if any part of the program is still installed on your computer and delete them. if not, right click on your internet icon and go to internet properties and go to security tab and check restricted sites and remove the blocked sites as the security suite may have blocked them.

please rate me. thank you.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

The school/employer may have installed "filtering" software.

Do you have the problem on ONE computer at ONE location,
or MANY computers at the SAME location,

Trend Micro 16 Internet security blocking access to Internet after on-line...

Recently there have been problems with systems running Trend Micro 16 Internet Security blocking access to the Internet after an on line update.

SO far the simplest resolution I have found for this issue is to disable the Trend Micro Firewall, and enable this Windows Firewall. This restores access to the Internet in the normal mode and has no effect on the Antivirus Component of the software suite.

Trend has published the following fixes, but as yet I have not had any success using them.

The only other successful resolution I have found is to uninstall and reinstall the Antivirus suite

Lowering Firewall Settings

In CA Internet Security Suite 2010

1. From the Start menu, select All Programs, CA, CA Internet Security Suite, and CA Security Center.
2. Click the My Internet panel twice.
The Settings tab will open with the Network Access sub tab selected by default.
3. Select the default network as Home Network.
4. Click the Browser Protection sub tab.
5. Click the Advanced Settings link next to one or more of the below features on this page.
Cookie Control, Ad/Pop Up Blocker, Mobile Code Control
6. When Advanced Settings show up, clear the boxes for features you want to unblock.
7. To exclude a website completely from Browser Protection, click the Add button to the bottom of this page, and add this website or web link.
8. Click the Apply button.

In CA Personal Firewall 2009 and older versions

  1. Open CA Personal Firewall.
  2. Click on Firewall on the left.
  3. Drag down the slider bars for Home Zone and Public Zone to Medium.
  4. Click on the Network Rules sub-tab across the top.
  5. If you have set any blocking rules for your network, then disable them for unrestricted internet activity.
  6. Click on Privacy on the left.
  7. If you have problems with only one (or a few) websites, please click on Manage Sites button on the top right to exclude them.
  8. Drag down the slider bars for Mobile Code and Ad-Blocking to Off.
This will give you access to java games, active X coding on good websites and informative popups, if any.
  9. Set the Cookie control slider bar to Medium.
  10. Click on the Safeguard button to the left.
  11. Enable Registry Protection, Program Protection and Code Injection.
  12. Click on the Program Control tab across the top, and right click under every column for this program to choose Allow.
  13. Click on Program Rules across the top, and disable any rules to lower restrictions.

For adding sites and changing the privilages to allow facebook, follow this guide:

  1. Open the CA Personal Firewall window and click on Privacy on the left.
  2. Click on the Manage Sites button on the top right.
  3. Click on Add.
  4. Click on the name of the website being blocked by the firewall and click OK.
    (Example: www.myspace.com)
Note that you have green check marks on all columns for this website. You can right click under a column and choose Prevent to block functions on this website.
  5. Close out the firewall window and check if you can open the website now.

Http://192.168.1.1 is not working anymore? i cant set up the router

well, since you said that 192.168.1.1 was working when you first got it, you should try to reset the router (the button is on the back, press and hold it for 5 secs). that would be the easiest way to put your router back together.
