The HP Digital Imaging Monitor (DIM) software must be running in order to scan from the printer.

  1. Click Start , and then click Run .
  2. In the Open text box, type msconfig , and then click OK .
  3. In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
  4. Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor .If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list, the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. You need to reinstall the software.

Can not scan


When this happen it is usually the USB cable. When this happen it is usually a problem with the USB cable. If
communication on USB cable is bad, as a result you can print but not
scan.Having also messed up a bit with the drivers ("HP digital
monitoring icon anymore"), you may also need to reinstall the driver.
My suggestion on how to proceed is the following.
Buy a better usb cable, the shilded ones cost a couple of dollars more but guarantee better communication.
Unplug printer from usb.
Unplug computer and printer from power for two minutes.
Plug back computer and printer to power, DO NOT plug in USB cable yet, leave printer NOT connected to pc.
Reinstall
drivers and software, keep printer disconnected until connection is
explicitely required by printer software installation process, or after
installing.
Connect printer when required.
Check that there is no
electric device (power adapters, extension etc.) very near to printer
USB cable, they can cause electromagnetic disturbance.
Try scanning. If it does not work at thhis point is either a problem with windows (new windows install required) or a faulty scanner.

Hi,
Click Start , and then click Run .
In the Open text box, type msconfig , and then click OK .
In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor . tick the box.

If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list,
the driver was not correctly installed and You need to reinstall the software.

Open HP Solution Center with one of the following methods.
On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Solution Center icon

On the taskbar, click Start , click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
If more than one HP device is installed, click the tab for the All-in-One product.

Click Settings .
Click Scan Settings and Preferences .
Click Scan to... Setup .
Click the Destination List tab.

NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the
Front Panel Destination List to populate after you turn on the printer or computer.
If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations,
you need to reinstall the software.
If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure.
Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
Click the Add arrow.
Click OK .

Scan a document using the Scan To button on the front panel.
If the scan fails, try to scan using the HP Solution Center Scan button.
If the scan still fails, re-install the software.

Step one: Verify that the Digital Imaging Monitor is ready

The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running in order for the Scan To function to work. The Digital Imaging Monitor icon normally appears in the system tray at the lower-right corner of the computer screen, and the monitor is ready when a check mark appears on the icon after Startup is complete.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor is in the system tray, proceed to Step two.

If the Digital Imaging Monitor does not appear in the system tray, follow these steps.
Windows 98, Me, and XP

1.Click Start , and then click Run .
2.In the Open text box, type msconfig .
3.Click OK .
4.In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
5.Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor .

HP Deskjet F2200 All-in-One SCAN green light flashes but does not scan


Error: “HP Cue Scanning Flow component has encountered a problem and needs to be closed”.

The problem is caused by HP software not installing the file path to the scanner correctly in XP, so if you run a registry cleaner such as RegCure it will delete the file path.

OS: Windows XP.

If you encounter this error message please follow the steps below:

1. Go to registry by clicking on Start/Run then typing in regedit and hitting enter.

2. Go to HKEY_ Local_ Machine\Software\Hewlett-Packard\DigitalImaging\

3. Click on the Digital Imaging Folder and in the Right Hand Side Pane and check if the String Value “ProfileWritePath” is present and Value is set to %APPDATA%\HP\Digital Imaging\Data\Destination

4. If the Sting Value is not present right click and then click on new and then click on String Value Name it as “ProfileWritePath” and then right click on that and click on Modify and make sure that the value is set to “%APPDATA%\HP\Digital Imaging\Data\Destination” and close the registry editor.

5. Then go to My computer C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\HP\Digital Imaging\Data and check if the Destination folder is present. If not create a new folder and name it as “Destination”.

6. If you are unable to locate the Application Data folder under All users, click on Tools and then click on Folder Option. In the Folder Options Window click on the View tab and under Hidden Files and Folders make sure that “Show Hidden Files and Folders” is checked and then click on Apply and then click on OK..

7. Then Make sure that the same that the HP\Digital Imaging\Data\Destination folder is present under all user profiles Application Data folder.

8. Run Regcure and after the scan check the file/path errors and tell it to ignore the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett-Packard\digitalImaging ProfileWritePath= C:\Documents and Settings\ (whatever your file path to the destination folder is)

Now it should run flwalessly even after you run regcure.

For other registry cleaners I'm sorry but you will have to find out how to tell your cleaner not to delete the erroneous file/path error.

    2. In the Open text box, type X:\setup , where X is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.

  3. On the installer screen, click Uninstall . If there is no Uninstall option, the software installation is incomplete.

  5. If the model supports custom install, install HP Imaging Device Functions to scan from the printer. The recommended install will install this feature automatically. It must be manually selected during a custom install.

  7. After successful installation, scan a document.
Step four: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

I am trying to scan a pic and my scaner says no scan options


Step one: Verify that the Digital Imaging Monitor is ready The Digital Imaging Monitor must be running in order for the Scan To function to work. The Digital Imaging Monitor icon normally appears in the system tray at the lower-right corner of the computer screen, and the monitor is ready when a check mark appears on the icon after Startup is complete. If the Digital Imaging Monitor is in the system tray, proceed to Step two. If the Digital Imaging Monitor does not appear in the system tray, follow these steps. Windows 98, Me, and XP
  1. Click Start , and then click Run .
  2. In the Open text box, type msconfig .
  3. Click OK .
  4. In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
  5. Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor . If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list, the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. Proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
  6. Select the HP Digital Imaging Monitor check box.
  7. Click Apply , and then click Close .
  8. Click Yes to restart.
Windows Vista
  1. Click Start .
  2. In the Start Search text box, type msconfig and press Enter .
  3. On the User Account Control window, click Continue . The System Configuration Utility window displays.
  4. Click the Startup tab.

Step two: Populate the destination list The destination list must be populated in order for the Scan To function to work. Follow these steps to populate the destination list.
  1. Open the HP Solution Center. Use one of the following methods to open the HP Solution Center.
    • On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Solution Center icon.
    • On the taskbar, click Start , Programs , or All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
    If more than one HP device is installed, click the tab for the All-in-One product. The HP Solution Center shows only the functions, settings, and support options that are appropriate for the selected HP product.
  2. Click Settings .
  3. Click Scan Settings and Preferences .
  4. Click Scan to... Setup .
  5. Click the Destination List tab. NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the Front Panel Destination List to populate after the printer or computer is turned on.
  6. If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure. If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations, proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
  7. Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
  8. Click the Add arrow.
  9. Click OK .
  10. Scan a document using the Scan To button on the front panel.
  11. If the scan fails, try to scan using the HP Solution Center Scan button. If the scan still fails, proceed to Step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
Step three: Uninstall and reinstall the software
  1. Insert the software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. The software installer should automatically start.
  2. If the software installer does not automatically start, complete the following steps.
    1. Click Start , and then click Run .
