Hi,

This is expected.

1. Turn off the option to clean the Prefetch in Tune-Up Utilities

2. Windows will just need to re-create all the prefetch files again, thereby slowing down Windows during boot and program starts until all the new prefetch files are created

Let me clarify further and correct myself. Tuneup utilities may not have an option to delete prefetch data, it may simply be telling you it was deleted, maybe by another program. Windows will rebuild the prefetch data during reboots and program start ups. Reboot your computer a couple of times and use programs as you normally would so the prefetch data will rebuild. I'm getting the Prefetch Data Deleted 'problem' on my tuneup 10 -...

Basically, the prefetcher is a Windows component that speeds up the boot process and start times of programs by prefetching data.

I recommend you never delete the prefetch data.

If you or another program delete prefetch data or the folder, this can slow the computer down until the prefetch data is rebuilt. Windows rebuilds this each time on reboot and during program start ups.

If you are using a cleanup utility, turn off any options that delete prefetch data. In CCleaner, this option is unchecked automatically. TuneUp 10 does not have an option for prefetch data and does not seem to delete this data. You may receive a message when using the program that states, "prefetch data deleted" which is informing you the prefetch is empty.

I dont konw how to turn off deleting prefatch data in tuneup utilties 2011

Hello,

TuneUp utilities does not seem to have an option to delete prefetch data, however, you can view all settings in the options menu.

What you may be seeing is simply a notification within TuneUp Utilities that the prefetch data was deleted either by another program or mistakenly by you.

The prefetcher in Windows basically speeds up the computer boot process and start up program speeds. Windows will rebuild this information automatically on each reboot and program start up, so, over time, you will see the problem corrected.

How i improve my computer speed

THere are many available utilities software which helps you on improving computer speed.

My recommendation, is the one I am using called TuneUp Utilities 2011.

Norton has its own. THere are many, but I prefer the one I mentioned.

These programs will have a registry cleaner, hard disk defragmenter, it will give you many options to improve your system.

But if you are low on budget.

1. Do a hard disk defragmenter, included on system tools on windows start menu ---> accessories
2. Clear the startup programs on unnecessary programs. Do this by running MSCONFIG, and clear the startup programs you think you don't need.
3. Install more memory, you have to check which memory is compatible with your computer.

God Bless You!!!

Hi I have win 7, CCleaner, kaspersky 2011 & tuneup utility 2011 the tuneup says "prefetch data deleted" pls help me how to troubleshoot this problem

It is absolutely safe to delete the Prefetch Data. Each time you turn on your computer, Windows keeps track of the way your computer starts and which programs you commonly opened. Windows saves this information as a number of small files in the prefetch folder. The next time you turn on your computer, Windows refers to these files to help speed the start-up process. You may also change the setting of Tuneup Utility not to clear the prefetch data. Rest assure that it is safe either way and doesnt have much impact on high speed systems.

Let me know if any further clarification is required.

Good Luck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Have ran tuneup utililites and have a message saying the files in the prefetch folder have been deleted by me or a program its not me so what program would delete these files as the pc is permanantly...

Tuneup utility progs are great if you know what you are doing, unfortunately most people don't..

The prefetch folder loads part of a prog into the system memory so that it can be opened quicker hence the term. This will slow the PC down if there is not enough memory installed to cope.

Malwarebytes is a very good prog provided you remmber to uopdate the database before the scan. Avira I cannot comment on never having used it but if in doubt you can run a virus scan from here

To check which preogs are running from startup, clear registry errors etc use this free app

There are few possible reasons: 1. The drive is full and fragmeted Solution: Try deleting unwanted files and burn the bulky files to a CD/DVD disk will reduce disk load. Do a deragmentation. [right click a disk drive to see properties > defragmentation.] 2. Too much softwares installed or large number of fonts installed. Solution: Install only required number of programs and fonts. Uninstall unused programs. 3. Viruses or malware affected.Your PC may be infected with viruses or malwares Solution: In this case install a good antivirus program and perform a full system scan. Also try some powerful spyware detecters. This will help reduce risk. 4. Too much servces running in the background. Solution: To reduce the number of services starting at windows startup go to > Right click > My computer > Select manage > select servoces In this tab see all the services running with windows start up. right click any service that you don't want and change its properties to manual or disabled. you can also delete the startup progams from Start > All programs > startup just delete the programs that you do not want at start up. this could solve your problem
