Question about Panasonic Cameras

1 Answer

My panasonic Lumix camera DMC-ZS3 dropped and the zoom stopped working. Lens will go out only a drop, not enough to take pictures, and it says: "system error: zoom." Playback only is OK. Is this fixable, and how much would it cost? The camera is fairly new, and I'm abroad now, wanting to take pictures. Thanks, Renee

Lens won't come out after dropping camera.

Only lightly toasted. The drop likely damaged the lens tube (housing) or jarred the zoom mechanism off of its track. There is no safe DIY fix for either condition, but the camera can be repaired by the manufacturer or at a local camera shop. Make sure to get an estimate first -- you may need to decide if the camera is worth the cost of the repair.

Dropped camera which landed on zoom lens.

Have you tried manually trying to pull out the part that is pushed in?

Panasonic lumix dmc-fx01 won't focus

See the post for the same camera: "Buttons stopped working": there is a small 2 position switch connected to the zoom button. In my camera the zoom switch was stuck in one of the extreme positions. You have to put it back in the middle an re-assemble.

Zoom and shutter not functioning

that is a symptom of being dropped and stuck in a mode.
it requires total dissemble of the camera to fix or replace the lens. your lucky it takes pictures at all. most cameras refuse if the lens is stuck.
