Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop

Dell dem 3000 will not turn on

When i turn it on it just says
windows could not start because the following file is missing or currupt
windowssystem32configsystem
could u help? When I turn on my computer Windows XP will not load. It starts loading the OS but then goes to the DELL logo screen, followed by a screen that says that the system was not shut down properly. It goes on to say that if it was forced to shut down because it stopped working I had the option to start up in SAFE MODE, and remove any suspect new hardware or software. Unfortunately, even when I select SAFE MODE it just loops back to the DELL logo screen after a feeble attempt to load Windows XP. At this point all I want to do is find a way to retrieve my personal spreadsheets and WORD documents before throwing my computer out the “WINDOW.” I do have another computer with XP on it which I would like to use to retrieve that data if there is a way to do that. Thanks!

What you need to do Is to take the Operating System reinstall disk that you got with your computer and boot from that. Once you get to the main screen press the option for a repair. Follow instructions on the screen. If you need more detail on how to do this just tell me and I will help.

Hello,

Insert the windows xp reinstallation disc and boot up your computer. It will load up the missing files. Do a start up repair.

I hope this helps!

Following files missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system

Well this means one of important files needed to start Windows is corrupted (it's a registry file).
I'd recommend repairing Windows installation. If you have Windows XP and also the Original Windows CD follow: this guide.

hi, if you really want to fix this that is repairing the windows software without losing any file here is what to do 1. get a windows xp home edition cd 2. insert the cd into the system before it boots to that level 3. the system will tell you press any key to boot from cd. press a key 4. after it has loaded all files needed when it get to a point it will bring out option of pressing f8 to agree with terms and conditions make sure you press F8. 5.it will now ask do you want to repair or install a fresh copy of windows to repair press r and to install a fresh copy press enter, make sure you press enter. 6. it will now tell you that the has been a windows on the system before that do you want to repair it? now is the time to press r 7.so any other thing that happen will now be automatic, when it finishes it will restart itself and continue the installation of windows xp here you might fill some important things like name, date and time etc.

Boot problem

If you cannot boot to safe mode, you may need to reinstall the OS, as it might be currupt.
Good Luck.

Problem booting up dell dimension 2300 desktop.

You have no choice either you should reinstall your system, you should provide windows CD/DVD installation and boot your system using this disk.

However; you should backup your important files be cause most likely the all files will be removed during the installation process.
