SOURCE: Polk Audio PSW350 Subwoofer keep blowing the fuse

The brown resin is glue that changed color due to heat and age. Rarely have I seen it cause problems. So unless you are having problems, No.

I have a vintage Sansui qrx5500, everything lights up, the meters show that the preamp is processing a signal but there is no sound, not even through headphones

The problem is something to do with the power amp board. You need to determine if it is going power to it, from the power supply section. If it is it would indicate the main power amp has gone. Does it have an IC power amp? If it does then it's gone! Otherwise I am puzzzelled why both channels are down on a device with two seperate transistors stages.

Can anyone tell me if the Adcom 5503 three channel amp is common ground? I want to use it to power some old school polk SDA 1C as my mains and a CSi5 polk center. Thanks

no reason why not, 3 channel amps used to be the "state of the art" back in the early stereo days. the third channel was produced from the sum of the right and left channels, (the plus side of the right and the plus side of the left were sent to the center channel. produced what was considered at the time a true reproduction of the sound as it was intended to be. your lucky to have this old amp.

No output to the subwoofer using the sub pre out RCA jack.

I'm assuming your subwoofer is self-amplified, otherwise it won't work with a preamp (rca) input.

Under Speaker Setup you have to have Subwoofer set to YES (page 16).

If you have good bass-capable main speakers I would recommend setting the subwoofer playback mode to LFE+Main, otherwise just LFE.

Beyond this we would need to know something more about the subwoofer and its controls.

Connect any other preamp out channel, like CDR/Tape OUT, to the sub and tune an FM station to see if the sub is capable of processing audio. A 'normal' audio signal would sound muffled but it would prove the cabling, amp and speaker at least function and point us back to setup as the culprit.

Got a brand new dsw pro 500 and hooked it up to a new pioneer elite receiver through the LFE input. LFE and subwoofer are turned on but the sub does not make sound.... whats up?

if there is multiple jacks on the sub be sure they are hooked up correctly simple mistake if not no doubtly a simple overlooked setting on your amp good luck you will get it

DSW PRO 600 not getting signal from receiver. Why?

You don't name the electronics, which can be the source of the problem. See #3.

1. If you suspect the cable why don't you just swap in another RCA cable? BTW: there's no such thing as a "subwoofer" cable. Monster makes their money on those beliefs. Cables don't wear out but they can go bad if one or more conductors fails. Oxides devolp at either end which can inhibit conductivity. Remove each end and reinsert it with a twisting motion.

2. Maybe. You need to ensure the sub is defined. Run speaker level check. If no sound at the sub, prove the LFE/sub channel has output by running the RCA cable to a recorder or your TV (low volume). If there's no signal, duh, no speaker will work with it.

3. Mmm, not if it's exhibiting the same problem as the old one and the Polk 450. Have you looked at the setting of the Standby/Auto/On Switch? And the Power Mode LED's? Red is bad.

How do i connect a subwoofer to my vsx-9700s

on the back of the pioneer, you have a subwoofer preamp output jack, probably colored black, as opposed to red or white. stretch a rca cord between there and the red and white (or lfe) input of the sub. youll then have to check the amp setup menu and make sure it has the output activated. good luck

Sony SAWX700, powers on fine, subs are not blown but no sound

The problem may be with the preamp power supply section. Easy fix in most cases. This is a great sub, they don't build them this well anymore. From Sony, I was quoted around $200 plus the bad board in exchange. The part to fix it costs $1.00, labour an hour or less. Get it fixed. The other brands have gone cheap with components and build quality. Let me know if you want more info.
