I bought an ipod 2gig nano with 117 songs downloaded. I like maybe 30. how can I delete the other songs?

Generally speaking, you'll clean up your iPod with iTunes to erase unwanted songs and add new songs. You have two ways to delete music from iPod with iTunes, and they can be helpful when you want to get rid of the unwanted songs. iTunes provides automatic and manual methods to help you manage the songs in your device. When you are using the automatic way to manage iPod music, every time you connect iPod to computer with USB cable, your iPod will sync with iTunes Music library. If you have your iTunes Music library organized, you can delete unwanted music from iPod with this easy method. If you want to manually edit your iPod music, you can check Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically in iTunes by clicking Edit > Preferences > Devices. Then you can manually sync the songs and playlists to your iPod with iTunes.

Trying to down load song from my lap top when synk it wounts to remove all song to in stall 12 songs?

I think you are trying to sync with a different library than your own original library that you synced your ipod before. OR the original songs that are in your ipod are no longer in your library. There is a option that you could sync songs manually.
1. Connect your iPod 2. Start iTunes 3. Click on your iPod 4. Check option that says Manually sync songs
Now you can sync your music without deleting the old songs. I hope

How do I delete duplicate songs on my Nano 4gb Ipod? How do I adjust the volume?

Using iTunes' "Show Duplicate Items" feature, you can locate and manually remove duplicate songs on your iTunes music library. Once the library is cleaned, you need only sync iTunes with your iPod to remove duplicates from your device as well. This guide takes iTunes 12 to remove song duplicates.
delete-duplicate-oxaxc0rwhkhzilrwacqreyis-1-0.jpg
  1. In iTunes, click "View > Show Duplicate Items" in Music module;
  2. Compare the listed song duplicates upon artist, album, date added, genre, play count, size, bit rate, and more to determine which item to keep and which item to remove;
  3. Hold the "Ctrl" key and click each duplicate you wish to delete.
  4. Connect your iPhone 6 to PC, click your iPhone from the device list, hit "Music" and select "Sync" to sync your library using your existing sync settings.
By doing this, you could delete duplicate songs on iPod from your iTunes. But it will eat a lot time of you. To save your time, let's come to the 2nd method - using 3rd-party iTunes cleaner program.

I have a apple iPod,fifth generation,30GB.My question is how do you delete songs or Album form iPod.

You will need to connect it to itunes and then delete from the ipod while it is connected.
If your ipod is set to manually manage music and videos then you can manually select songs and albums and hit delete. This may take a while. Use the search feature to scroll quickly.
If your ipod is set to auto sync then all you need to do is uncheck the songs, playlists and albums from synchronizing. It will remove them from your ipod.

I lose content of my Ipod when charging.

Hey. In your itunes window, you have the option to automatically sync the ipod once it is plugged in. If this is on, then your ipod will sync itselfto whatever computer you plug it into. This means that if you have uploaded a bunch of songs from your computer, and you plug it into another one with auto sync on, it will delete all your previous songs. In the future, make sure this option is turned off, and that you do it manually.
Hope this helps!

How do i get what i accidently deleted back on my ipod

hook the ipod up to itunes and when it opens to the page that you see the picture of the ipod. put a check mark next to the automatically sync my ipod.
However, if you have other song on your ipod that are not in your library they will be delete during the sync.
No here is the best way to do it.
put a check next to manage music manually, instead of syncing it.
find the music file folder on your computer, open it up and minimize it.
open itunes and click on music under your ipod. now maximized your music folder and drag the songs into the white area with all the lines. the songs will load onto your ipod.
do only about 100 or so at a time to avoid problems.
to get multiple song click on the top song, and press shift and highlight the last song this will mark all songs in between to be moved. now drag the highlighted songs and watch them load.

ITunes to IPod

It sounds like you have your IPOD set to automatically sync to your itunes library instead of being set to manually select the songs. If you have it set to automatically sync then anytime you plug your ipod in with itunes open then only the songs that are in your Itunes library will be on your IPOD after you disconnect it from the computer. If you would have set it to manually sync then you would have had to choose which songs to put on your IPOD and also which to take off. If you had it set to automatically sync then I am sorry to inform you, but your songs are gone from your IPOD (and if you have it set to delete the song from the computer as well as the library then the song is gone from your laptop too)

If you are asking how to add songs to you iPod
(assuming you want to use iTunes)

Sync your iPod with iTunes
4d26eb7.jpg

  1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
  2. When the iPod icon appears in the iTunes window (below Devices), select it.
  3. If the Summary pane isn't showing, click the Summary tab.
  4. To automatically sync your iPod:
    1. Make sure that "Manually manage music" is not selected.
    2. Click the Music tab and do one of the following:
    3. To automatically update your iPod with all the songs and playlists in your library, select "Sync music" and then select "All songs and playlists." iTunes loads the songs and playlists in your iTunes library onto your iPod, and deletes songs from your iPod that aren't in your library.
    4. To automatically update your iPod with only certain playlists, select "Sync music" and "Selected playlists," and then select the playlists you want synchronized.
  5. To manually sync your iPod:
    1. Make sure that "Manually manage music" is selected.
    2. Click Music (below Library, on the left side of the iTunes window) and then drag songs and playlists to your iPod.

Deleting all memory at once

Ipod manuals http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/ipod/ Not sure if you have 1st or 2nd gen 1st: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPod_nano_Features_Guide.pdf 2nd: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPod_nano_2nd_Gen_Features_Guide.pdf These manuals suggest that when you connect to itunes, it automatically deletes all songs not in your library. Otherwise i don't see a format option unless the drive shows up in my computer and you can format it there (right click). It basically suggests that you have to use one of the manual methods on the pod or computer to delete songs. Have fun!
