Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Dear Benimur:

The one crucial part simply was not available and even if it was, the whole repair would have been too expensive. So I've decided to junk it and buy a "new" receiver from a posting on Craigslist. It's a Sony STR DG910, which actually has far more bells and whistles than I need. But it's still "in-the-box" and never used, so I think I'm getting a good deal.

Thanks again for your help.

I have already tried my best to rate your assistance, as well as that of the others. I don't know how to "go back to the link" and rate solutions.

Copy that and congratulations with the Sony STR DG910. I am assuming this posting was prompted by an email from the FixYa. A probable reason was that I requested a review of your posting here. This was your original problem and for some unknown reason(s), your rating/evaluation was not reflected. I would appreciate if you can go back to the link and rate solutions as you seem them fit.

Again congratulations with the Sony and thank you very much for taking the time out and providing an update.

Hi,You are not the only one suffering from this problem...As far as I examine on the related web markets available on this respect, I realized that They don't make replacement for players on a home theater in a box. When one item fails you have to replace the system. Instead of replacing the whole system ,You can buy a new separate "Panasonic blue-ray disc player" unit and connect it directly to your tv and then connect an optical cable from the TV to your home theater. It will be more than likely more expensive to repair than buying a new player .

Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up

Hope this helps!

I have 6 preset DAB stations and want to set more but I have lost my manuel and don't know how to search for other stations. The radio is a small Lowry Dab/FM Radio. It wasn't an expensive one.

You can download your manual for the radio at this link:

The spindle connecting the volume control knob to the control itself has broken. Does the whole assembly need to be replaced? I don't have the old spindle.

Do you mean the spindle on the back of the round knob? If this is the case then you simply need a new knob from the manufacures as the bit that fits over the pin coming out of the machine is a one peice moulded item. If you are very nice to customer services at Kenwood, they may send you one for free. Next time be a wee bit more careful not to knock the control knob as it is quite delicate.

IF on the other hand it is the volume spindle couming out of the unit, then yes this is a whole item replacement. This will need to be repaired by either a accredited Kenwood repair agent or a competent repair shop depending on whether this item is still under gaurantee or not.

I'VE seen this error many times, if you need an actual transistor changed, you will want to visit the local electronics repair shop. Many computer shops may also be able to repair your problems. I would recommend that bringing in physically to a shop would be your best choice. The Denon AVR-1507 7.1 is far too expensive to simply replace for a bad set of resistors, transistor, or capacitor, ensure that you realize this is something that some be seen in person to repair.

Display on Denon AV-887 receiver does not show anything anymore...

This is most often caused by a bad power transformer. The power tranformer has several different secondary outputs and one of them is the supply voltage for the display. There are several other things that can also cause this problem, but all of these would require some knowledge of electronic troubleshooting and the proper equipment to test it.

I work at an authorized Denon service center and have repaired many Denon receivers, so I do have hands-on experience with these.

If you have the proper test equipment, like a multi-meter at minimum, I could help you to figure out what is causing your problem. If not, you really should just take it in for service. The model number of your receiver would indicate that it may still be under the manufacturers warranty. It has a 2 year warranty, so you can probably get it repaired for free. If it has been more than 2 years since you made the purchase it would still be worth it to get it repaired. This is a very expensive receiver and even if it needed the power transformer, which is very expensive, it would still be cheaper to pay for a repair than to buy a new one of equal quality. Even the very best electronic equipment breaks down at some time, it is just unfortunate that yours took a turn for the worse this soon.

If I can be of more help feel free to post a reply and ask.

I have jammed two Cd's in the same tray by mistake. any advice please

my husband tried to fix it himself but was unable to do it. so he did the next best thing. He took the machine to an approved repair workshop who fixed it within the hour for the princely sum of £65.00. It was a little expensive but it did save getting a divorce!

well..that's a noble attempt to divert electronics from the landfill. however, parts availability in electronics has about a 2 to 3 year life. so if you find one, it's going to be from someone, like you, that has one around.

After boot up, My receiver defaults to "Decoder"

Maybe the input select IC is going, but I'd put my money on a bet that it is the main microprocessor going crazy. Get a real repair guy to look at it. It sounds like an expensive repair is in your future. If luck is in your stars then you may just have a power supply voltage that is taking a long time to get up to proper value for what ever reason and fixing that might fix your problem. Either way a trip to the shop is in order. Good luck.
