How do I get my HP F4480 scanner to copy a small photo and then make it bigger? I want to scan a wallet sized photo and make it an 8.5 by 11" photo.

I want to scan a small picture and save it as enlarged copy on my all in one. How do I do it?

Place your photo on a scanner, do a preview, highlight just a picture and change the size you want that picture to be in.

Copier won't enlarge wallet size pictures to 8x10

I don't think this is an issue with the printer, in that is designed to do this. To enlarge a relatively small photo to 8x10 would produce an image with very low quality. It is not a flaw, but a feature that helps save ink and money.

I have a brand new HP deskjet F4480. It will copy but will not scan. I get an "unknown error" message when I try to scan. Any ideas?

hi lindakharkov
Do you have an icon on the task bar for HP.
It may be called Digital imaging monitor or Solution Centre.
Right click on the solution Centre and find the Scan button and scan.

If you do not have HP solution Centre, click on the link below, Choose the correct O/S first.Download the Utility and software. and install.

When I print pictures on the 3210 HP all-in-one, they come out very small even though I choose the 4X6 in paper size for the photo tray. I've tried everything I can, but the pictures keep printing wallet...

First thing that comes to mind is that a 4x6" print could print four wallet sized photos; be shure your are not printing more than one copy.

If you are trying to print more than one,it will print the actual picure you have and leave space for the number of other nonexistent prints selected.

See page 75 of the Manual. for directions on how to set up photo printing.

If you have photoshop, you can resize your documents using the menu item, Image / Image size, (Alt + i then i again)

Set the resolution to 300, then the document size width to 6 or 10 inches.

This will guarantee that your document is full size, (though the printer should be able to resize it to fit on the page no matter what).

Give these a try. It's really a shot in the dark, but it's my best guess.

Cheers.
Richard.

I want to increase size of small items to make them more legible

Set your printer to let you Preview before printing. From there, make sure you have the size upped to a percentage that will fill up the entire paper. You can also try scanning forms and such at a higher resolution initially. This will give you a bigger image to work with. Let me know if these are sufficient for your needs or need a different solution.

Scanning photos into computer at a large size?!

This sounds like you are trying to scan images at a larger size than they actually are?
I am not an expert-(but I have a Mac)-but from what I'm reading, scan your photos at a 300-600 dpi resolution, then use photo editing software to enlarge them. The higher the resolution, the more disk space and the more photo detail (i.e. cracks, dust, scratches, paper type) will be captured, and the more time it will take to scan. Also, for the white, does your scanner allow you to select the area/define borders during the pre-scan? Mine lets me drag borders to just the image area (but capture the image first, then do the cropping and editing to a copy later).

I need a scanner that will scan 10X14 pictures

Hi,
I found some scanners for you listed below but,
You can also scan large pictures in sections, and then use a program like STITCHES. Basically you scan it in quarter sections and then create a working board in your photo program and then you copy and paste each section into that board and line up the edges.
This is what most people do rather than buy a very expensive large format scanner.

Some large companies also have large scanners for maps etc. If you know someone who works for a very large company or one that does surveying etc. They may do this favor for you.
Though copy stores may have the size you need, copywrite issues will be asked about.

Here is the list.
large format scanners http://www.microtekusa.com/lf.html

Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL Scanner

Input Size:Min: 4.5" x 5.5" Max: 42" x 100'

Thank you and good luck.
