Noise

There are basically two moving parts, the fan and the compressor. It more then likely is the fan. Be sure the air path is clean and the fan blade does not hit anything. If it is the compressor I would suggest getting a new unit and using that one elsewhere for the short time it has left.

The fan in the dehumidifier makes an awful lot of noise.

It may not be the fan, as much as it the compressor vibrating. This occurs if the unit is not sitting on level flooring or on a carpet. Why I carpet? I do not know, but my LG unit does the same thing. I have found that smacking the sides of the cabinet simultaneously with my open hands, stops the vibration and the noise.

if however, it is the fan making the noise, it too can be affected by an UN-level surface. In addition, the fan shaft made need lubricating. WD40 works well for this or light machine oil (like sewing machine oil) will work too.

Hope this helps you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

Dehumidifier works fine but every now and then the fan is very noisy, as if it is loose or hitting something. Is there a way of checking to see what is happening?

Hello,

With the unit unplugged, open the cover and check the alignment of the fan. If the fan is stuck or rubbing against the fan cowling, adjust the fan motor's mounting hardware so that the fan turns freely.

Good luck.

Engine is making notice

Hi,
The compressor is a mechanical pump that will be loud...plus the fan has to move air to make it work correctly...not much you can do about it...

When running load noise coming from black cylinder

That part you identified is the compressor of the dehumidifier. Compressor is probably bad or going bad. When compressor go bad the valves start making noise and they lose alot of there efficiency.

LG LHD65EL Dehumdifier Fan Noise

It sounds like the fan has etached from its hub. This usually is not repairable if that's the case. Replace the fan.

Makes a loud noise

not sure which dehum yo have, but here I go! most fans are not part of the cooling system. first remove the housing where the fan is. turn the unit on and check to see if the fan is turning. if not then just wait till you hear the compressor kick in. if the compressor goes on then you do have a problem w/the fan motor and it will have to be replaced. worst comes to worst just bring it into Sears. they have techs which will let you know what the exact problem is and you can take it from there. make sure you give them the model # first, just to check if the have parts for your dehum.

Dehumidifier not dehumidifying ...

Save the old one for parts if you get the same new one but I def. don't reccomend buying this unit again. The reviews are bad. The fan is not covered under the warranty except first year or extented warranty. I spoke with Kenmore & Sears about this to see if coverd under 5 yr. Only compressor, tubing & refrigeration system(see inside of front cover for warranty info.)

Sound more like a sensor/circuit board problem to me since fan is turning. I think the signal determins which setting fan needs via sensor assembly to run. I could be wrong. Justa thought.

Can you def. hear the compressor come on. You can look through grill to see fan spin & the compressor makes a clank/clunking noise/ The fan & compressor should turn same time. Good luck! If you got any info. on my fan problem & you have update or fixed your problem I ccould use some help. Check post for my problem.. Thanks! panfan1

Check to make sure the fan works. I have one with a broken internal fan and it will appear to work but will not collect water. Do not be fooled by the noise from the compressor. If your fan is broken, the compressor will run until it overheats. There should be airflow that you can feel behind the unit which should be cool and not hot.
