Well the problem is not with the monitor.....its just that you got to update the Graphic or display drivers

As you updated the system OS so now you got to install the Graphic drivers and in order to do so..use the the addition disc that you might have got the manufacturer (i.e. Driver & Application CD) or if its a self assembled computer computer then use the Motherboard CD

Else you can go to manufacturer website and download the graphic/display adapter drivers

If you would have mentioned the Model & make of your system, I could have helped with the direct download link

Thanks

HOW DO I FIX MY SCREEN RESOLUTION FROM CHANGING FROM 1280X1024 TO 640X480

JFrank,

Your monitor needs to be a high resolution monitor which supports 1280X1024. If is not then this is why your monitor keeps going back to 640x480. If it is a hi res monitor then you may need to update your drivers. If it is a Windows machines simply click the task bar>>control panel>>enter "Windows Update" in search box then click it and your drivers will be updated

How can i reset my gateway fpd 1930 lcd

At the bottom of the monitor, there are some buttons. Pushing the right-most button (Auto/Set) will enable the automatic configuration to happen. This will "automatically optimize the monitor's image position, clock, and phase."

Upgraded to windows 7 but cant change the screen resolution from 640x480 using a samsung syncmaster732n

Try downloading or installing new drivers for your video card, and the monitor. If you already have the latest monitor drivers for Windows 7, I would recommend updating the video as it's the other reason you might not be able to increase the resolution.

My screen resolution is stuck at 640 X 480 and it can't be moved in the display area. Any suggestions?

The resolution of teh screen is controlled by the computer, not the monitor.

Find your display settings in whatever operating system you are using. You will be able to change the resolution there. Easiest way would be to do a Google search for "change resolution in XXXXX" where XXXXX is your operating system. (i.e., Windows XP, Windows 7, Mandrake, etc.)

I changed resolution from 640x480 to 1024x768 and all i get now is a blank screen. cannot get back in to change resolution back to 640x480

reboot the computer in "safe mode with networking" by rebooting the machine and during the manufactures name screen, tap the F8 key and you will see the muli-boot menu come up. Safe mode usually loads a resolution the video card and monitor agree on. You may have corrupt video drivers that give the black screen. While in safe mode, go online to windows update and let it scan your system, choose custom installation and look for the optional updates, these will be the hardware drivers you need to update your system. Check them all if you like and let windows install them automatically. Once done reboot normally and see if that clears the problem.

The screen display reset to 640x480 on startup.

Anyways, yes, the native resolution is 1280x800 at 60 Hz. Its a PnP device part of the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset family. Find a ATI Mobility Radeon plugin or create one. Be careful, ATI desktop drivers dosn't support offficial mobility chip (some inf entries are missing).
Start with drivers from your manufacturer. You can use ATI desktop driver files, but you have to add your hardware device number. Be aware, that's not a official solution, but this works in most cases.
Thank You
