Im just hooking subs. to my amp , so do I run my woofers to the terminal that say's sub or to just the other speaker terminals.the thing is I have two ssubs. and one sub terminal

The extra terminals might be there so you can bi-amp the speakers. (Drive the woofers and tweeters with separate amps). This also allows you to use only the woofers in the units as subs with different high frequency units; as in a home theatre system.

There are several methods, depending on the the types of 1)inputs on the subwoofer and 2) outputs on the amplifier (aka receiver). You can only use the type that is on BOTH.

Most sub woofers have "line level" inputs (they are the RCA phono style jacks or other style jack) that are marked "In" or "Input" and may have speaker level input & output terminal that accept speaker wires.

Amplifiers or "amp" all have speaker level outputs and many also have jacks that are labeled "Subwoofer" or "LFE" (low frequency effects) Output. If both your sub and amp have the "line level" jacks, then all you need to do is get a cable that is long enough to connect the two together, and then enable the low frequencies to be sent to the sub instead of the normal speakers in the receiver's set up menu. Done!

If you have only a speaker level connections common to both the sub and amp, you'll most likely need to disconnect the Main front L and R speakers from the amp and connect to the sub's Speaker Output terminals - and connect a couple of new speaker cables between the sub's Speaker Input terminals and the amp's Main front L and R terminals.

If you don't understand completely, provide the make and model of the amp and the sub, and I'll be able to clear up anything that isn't clear.

You will need an amplifier or 2 channel receiver. Hook the sub out rca jack to the rca inputs on this new amp or receiver and hook the speaker terminals on sub to speaker terminals on same amp or receiver. Your Yamaha receiver doesn't have any power for a passive sub.Just pick up any old fairly high powered receiver for fifty dollars and you're good to go.I use old dolby pro logic receivers as they are a dime a dozen today. you can run each sub at either 4ohms or 1ohm which means that two of them will run at either 2ohms or .5ohms....be careful how you wire them because most amps cannot handle .5ohms very well and might blow.....to wire them for 2ohms you will need to wire each sub the following way. they have two voice coils make a jumper wire connecting the negative on one coil to the positive on the other coil. what you are left with is a coil with an open positive and the other coil has an open negative. when both subs are wired like this connect the two positive terminals together (1 from each sub) and the two negative terminals together (1 from each sub) now the subs should be wired together at a 2ohm load. run the two positive wires into another combined wire which will run to the positive speaker terminal on the amp. do the same for the negatives

first of all is the amp a four way amp? if so then you need to know what the watts of the subs are (you dont want to melt them) wire + and - of channels 1 and 2 to one sub and + and - of channel 3 and 4 to second sub, nice thick lead from battery positive (fused) to positive terminal on amp thick lead from a good earth point to negative terminal on amp run a set of rca leads down the opposte side to the positive wire to prevent interference, run thin wire from remote wire of radio to the remote terminal of amp, rca's are plugged in at stereo and at the am. may need a RCA splitter to be able to power all four channels

I would look up "series" and "parallel" wiring on the net. Parallel will lower your ohms, which is good- especially for you since your amp is 1ohm. use 1 channel of your amp (unbridged...bridging an amp could increase output, but will Raise the ohms) connect the positive terminal with a wire that goes to the positive on your first sub, and from there, connect a wire from that same positive terminal to the positive terminal on your second sub. do the same thing with the neg. wire. This is called parallel wiring.

I would double-check your RCA's on the amplifier. You should hear a thud if you unplug them. If not they are either not hooked up or defective.

In general, there are two ways to hook up your sub-woofer. First using the high level outputs from your receiver ( speaker output from the front R & L speaker terminals ) run a set of wires from the outputs to the speaker inputs on the sub-woofer, you do this in concert with the speaker wires going to the front R & L speakers which you then attach to the R & L speaker outputs on the sub woofer amp. Note that the sub woofer doesn't power your front speakers, the connections from the sub amp are just a pass through connection where the signal needed by the sub is parasitically taken from the inputs.
Second is via a low level output from your receiver / amp to the low level input on your sub amp. This is normally done via a RCA type of patch cable and connected to the sub woofer RCA jack on the rear of the source receiver or amp, Next run the patch cord to the sub amp an into the RCA jack input. IF you have a right and left input, use the Right input.

The two seperate wire terminals on the sub are for dual voice coils which means. If You hook up the first terminal to the second terminal then run speaker wire from the second terminal to the amp.It should then increase the subs frequency response and sound better which also means it will be able to handle more bass. As to just having one voice coil hooked up. The two terminals is pretty much the bridge for the sub.
