Solution to the HP Purple Web Cam Issue

This document is located on HP's web site concerning purple tint on certain web-cams.

This document pertains to certain HP Notebook PCs with Windows 7.
When using an HP ENVY 15 notebook PC webcam in low light conditions, images on the webcam may have a purple tint. The ENVY 15 Series webcams include night vision technology that is designed to operate in normal lighting conditions and optimized to operate in low and zero light conditions. The webcam night vision feature includes two Infrared (IR) lights located on each side of the webcam and behind the display panel bezel.
Low to zero light conditions will cause the webcam IR lights to activate. The IR lights provide illumination for low and zero light conditions and help prevent fuzzy images that are typically associated with operating standard webcams in low and zero light conditions.
Turn off the webcam IR lights. While some degree of purple tint may be present under low light conditions, turning off the webcam IR lights will reduce and in certain cases eliminate the purple tint.
  1. Select Start > All Programs > HP > HP MediaSmart > HP MediaSmart Webcam .
  2. In HP MediaSmart Webcam, select Settings > Display > Advanced Settings , and then click the Camera Control tab.
  3. Select the Low Light Compensation check box, and then click Apply .
  4. Click OK .
NOTE:Disabling the webcam IR lights will cause display images to appear darker in low and zero light conditions.

The webcam IR lights are also available on other webcam programs.
Refer to the software Help for additional information.
This document will be updated if additional information becomes available.

How do I use the tool for detail sanding

See the purple line on the poster:

I like the cylinder ones. Run it on slow speeds to get used to how it moves. It's probably not a great choice for sanding anything you want flat. They are great for shaping curves though.

The code purple on my computer

Code purple is because an O.S other than a genuine HP has been installed and as it is HP it would have to be HP as it is designed especially to run HP computers only, For example if you try to install an O.S from a Compaq even though Hp and Compaq have merged it is written for Compaq computers not HP and vice/versa. Re-Install your original HP O.S and this should sort out the code purple error. I hope this helps.

I have a purple line running up and down my 42" sanyo?

Hello; If this purple line goes fully from top to bottom, You have a bad LCD panel. If the line goes only part way down or up the screen, You likely have a cracked LCD panel ( never covered by warranty ) The LCD panel will cost more than the set sold for ! John
