It may not be possible to purchase extended warranty for products which you had not received yet.
You need to have the Product Number and the Serial Number of the Product and register the extended warranty for that product after purchasing.
So, you need to wait untill you receive the product and purchase the requied extended warranty for the same.

I have a brand new (bought yesterday) HP Pavilion g6 laptop. Today it is reporting a hard disk problem. However, everything seems to work. Am I headed for trouble?

I don't recomend purchasing an HP to anyone because this is all too common. My father in law purchased a 17" HP Pavilion and opened it for the first time from the corner instead of the middle and the LCD cracked and broke. He didn't purchase a warantee with it and the cost of the LCD and Labor would have been half of what he originally bought it for.

Did you purchase a warantee with it? According to HP's website they have a limited warantee. This is an excerpt:

HP guarantees that the HP Hardware Products that you have purchased or leased from HP are free from defects in materials or workmanship under normal use during the Limited Warranty Period. The Limited Warranty Period starts on the date of purchase or lease from HP. Your dated sales or delivery receipt, showing the date of purchase or lease of the product, is your proof of the purchase or lease date. You may be required to provide proof of purchase or lease as a condition of receiving warranty service. You are entitled to hardware warranty service according to the terms and conditions of this document if a repair to your HP Hardware Product is required within the Limited Warranty Period.

During the Limited Warranty Period, HP will, at its discretion, repair or replace any defective component. All component parts or hardware products removed under this Limited Warranty become the property of HP. In the unlikely event that your HP Hardware Product has recurring failures, HP, at its sole discretion, may elect to provide you with (a) a replacement unit of HP's choosing that is the same or equivalent to your HP Hardware Product in performance or (b) to give you a refund of your purchase price or lease payments (less interest) instead of a replacement. This is your exclusive remedy for defective products.

It is mandatory that the unit product number and serial number be made available when requesting a warranty service event. Failure to do so may result in the event being deemed out of warranty by HP or, HP's Authorised Service Providers, and therefore chargeable to the requester.

I would return it and get a different one anyway. You should be able to use the reciept as the proof of purchase.

A hard disk problem can happen with any new computer from any company, sometimes they slip through the cracks.

As a recomendation I would add that you'll get a better bang for your buck if you were to purchase a Dell (warantee is better and more inclusive) or even a Macintosh. For my father in law, he bought a Macbook (laptop) and installed bootcamp which allowed him to install the Windows 7 operating system and now he only runs Windows 7. It works really well for him.

I hope this helps!

Dear Sir, I purchased Nokia Mobile Model Music Express , from Saudi Arabia. At the time of purchasing the shop keeper told me its warranty is all over the world, ie if you purchase it from here it will...

If you still have the Warranty Card and the Receipt of purchase, they should not refuse you, you can still claim it. Actually, most people think FixYa as the Service Center or Care Center. FixYa doesn't sell or doesn't deal any product/item, but only gives support and service to the customers/people around the world. And honestly FixYa isn't responsible for anything about warranty or validity, except giving supports and instructions.

If you are having problem with your nokia phone, we can help you or assist you how to fix it.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

How can i know my laptop warranty period

Usually any product you purchase, Like the laptop, will have one year warranty on it from the date you have purchased it.

If you can find out when you had purchased the laptop, add 1 year to it on coming year and it will be the date the warranty expires,

Other way is, click on this link to find out the warranty

Limited Warranty on HP Laptop??

Cracked screens are never covered by a limited warranty. A limited warranty from a manuf. covers defects in product or workmanship at the factory. Screens can run 600-1200 bucks.

Part Number There are literally millions if not billions of different part numbers used by companies today. Because of the vast quantity of part numbers and the frequency of those numbers getting changed or referenced to other numbers, Computer Hope is unable to offer its customers with third-party part numbers.
If you are looking for a part number we recommend that you contact the computer company or the company responsible for supporting your product. You can find a listing of companies and their contact information on our company listing.
If the company responsible for your product is no longer in business we recommend the below.
  • If you do not have any numbers, but have the product or part you wish to replace, ensure that no numbers are listed on that part. If a number or name of company is listed on the product see the next section. However, if no number can be located we recommend you take the product to a local service center, repair shop, or the place of purchase for additional assistance.
  • If you are able to locate a number, attempt to search the Internet with a large search engine for that number. If you are unable to locate that number we recommend you take the product to a local service center, repair shop, or the place of purchase for additional assistance.
  • If you are only able to locate the name of the company who made the product, attempt to contact that company directly to see if they can provide you with a replacement. See our company listing for contact information.
Also see: Part Number (PN) Computer Hope dictionary definition.
Manual Because of copyright laws and the inability to have all manuals for all products, Computer Hope is unable to send or make copies of any manuals.
Many companies will provide a lot of their documentation in electronic format through their website. If you want an online version of a manual or instructions that you can print we suggest you visit the manufacturer of your product web page.
If you would like a hard copy of a manual or would like to locate a manual for your product, we recommend you contact the company responsible for your product and/or the company you purchased your product through. A listing of computer companies can be found on our company listing section.
Also see: Manual Computer Hope dictionary definition
Warranty Information If you have questions regarding the length of your warranty, how to purchase an extended warranty, what your warranty covers, and/or any other related warranty information, we recommend you contact the manufacturer or developer of your product and/or the place where you purchased your product. A listing of computer companies can be found on our company listing section.
Refund Information Computer Hope is not associated with any third-party product nor does it sell any third-party products; we are unable to handle any request for refunds of a product or provide anyone with additional information about a refund. To obtain this information you will need to contact the manufacturer of your product and/or the place of purchase. A listing of computer companies can be found on our company listing section.
Rebate Information Computer Hope does not provide or deal with any rebates. Therefore, if you have a question in regards to rebate information and/or why you have not received your rebate, you will need to contact either the manufacturer of your product and/or the company responsible for your rebate. A listing of computer companies can be found on our company listing section.
Serial Numbers Unfortunately, with the billions of different serial numbers and manufacturer numbers, we are unable to provide support and/or information on a product by its serial number. If you are looking for additional information about a product by its identification number, we highly recommend you contact the manufacturer of the product or look for information about the product on Computer Hope by searching by the manufacturer or type of device name. For example, instead of searching for "Serial Number 12345" it may be easier to search for "Maxtor hard drive".
If you are looking for a serial number for a particular software program you will need to contact the software developer or producer of the software program; Computer Hope will not provide any type of serial numbers or other registration numbers to any users. See our underground section for additional information to why Computer Hope does not provide this information.
Finally, a serial number for a hardware device such as a computer or printer can almost always be found on the bottom or back of the device. If you're trying to find the serial number for one of these devices try physically examining the device. If you're still having issues locating it the contact the manufacturer of the product for additional assistance.
Billing Information The Computer Hope web page and its service is a 100% free service and therefore does not bill any of its users. If you have questions regarding billing or changing the type of billing for a service it is recommended you contact the company you are using or have purchased a product through.
Missing or lost CD, disk, or install file If you've lost one or more of your installation CD's or diskettes you must contact the developer of that program to obtain a new copy. Computer Hope cannot send anyone copies of the disks or downloadable files over the Internet of the program regardless if you have purchased the program.
