Question about Medion PC Desktops

1 Answer

The cooling fan on my Medion 98200 laptop is continually running and the laptop is very hot. I have done a factory reload to ensure that there is no software causing the problem and it is still very hot. Any ideas ? Nigel Hall

Thanks for your help, but there does not appear to be a Bios update for this machine on the Medion website.

My cooling fan on my HP Pavilion 23 touch screen desktop has the cooling fan running constantly now? Why would this happen all of a sudden?

It's possible that either the chip it's cooling is running hot. The heat sink inside may be covered with dust preventing the chip from being cooled. It also might be dust on the fins of the fan itself causing the extra noise.

You should have it checked out and cleaned to prevent possible damage and fan failure.

Laptop overheats

You can try opening the laptop and cleaning the radiators from dust with a vacuum cleaner. Also, you can try lowering the CPU frequency or switching your power plan to "power saving" (in Windows: control panel -> power options -> power plan), however this will decrease the performance.

My computer just went belly up! It is a reconditioned IBM ThinkCenter, a little over 2 years old. It was running normally and then all hell broke lose, cooling fan went berserk sounding like a hair dryer...

Since your PC is two years old its recommended to check your computers hardware check your cooling fan
specially CPU cooling fan if that fan is broken your pc wont work and be careful turning on your PC again and again will burn the processor

My new gateway laptop fan runs continuously. it

Why do you think it is a problem? It is perfectly normal for laptops to get hot. That is the reason coolpads were invented. If you have a waterbed available, try using the laptop while it is sitting directly on the mattress. The water acts like a giant heat sink and the computer will stay much cooler.

Cooling fan runs constantly coming off stand-by

Has it always done this or is this a recent problem?
Try this: right click on your desk top's start screen, select properties, select screen saver, select poweer, select hibernate. Make sure that hibernate is checked and select apply. Now when you hibernate your computer will remember all the info you were working on AND it should make the fan run normally on start up.
Not all computers have the hibernate feature and it cannot be added, so let's hope yours was built with it at the factory. Good luck!

Laptop switched off while i was working on it

After the notebook shuts down do not turn it back on for 15 minutes and then test it again. Will the notebook work longer if you let it cool down for a while? Isn’t it hot if you touch the bottom? Can you hear the fan running?
Most likely you experience a laptop overheating problem and it would be fixed by cleaning the cooling module – the heat sink and the fan. The notebook processor produces a lot of heat when the notebook is turned on. The cooling module helps to keep the CPU cool when the laptop is working. The cooling module includes two parts: the heat sink and the cooling fan. The heat sink is attached to the CPU and helps to conduct the heat from the processor to the radiator. The cooling fan blows on the radiator and helps to disperse the heat produced by the CPU. The laptop will overheat if the heat sink radiator is clogged with lint and dust or if the cooling fan stopped spinning.
If your laptop shuts down after some time without any reason and warning, check if the cooling fan spins. Usually it makes some noise and you can hear it. If the fan works fine, then check if the heatsink is clogged. In some cases you can clean the heat sink with compressed air, just blow inside the fan openings on the laptop bottom. If the heatsink is completely clogged, then it is necessary to remove the heatsink for cleaning.

Medion MD 96327 - when temp gets to about 92 degrees C - when burning DVD's the laptop shuts down totally. The laptop is on a desk and has plenty of ventilation. Is there anything I can do?

Neil,

Are you sure you got the temps right? 92 Celsius would be about 198 Fahrenheit. That temp would likely fry your CPU

If it is 92 F then this is likely an overheating issue. Listen to see if you can hear the fan blowing in your laptop. If the fan IS blowing then we can rule THAT out. If not you will have to get it repaired or replaced.

If the fan was blowing try getting a can of compressed air and blow out the venting ports on the Laptop. If doin this still does not resolve your problem there are cooling devices at several retailers for notebooks. I've seen them at Office depot, Best Buy and Circuit city

Hope this helps

Medion notebook under warranty less than a year old it was plugged in and charging yesterday when there was sparks coming from the charger slot, and a few sparks were released. This had given me a bit of...

Sounds like the charge socket is not properly seated on the motherboard. I would call customer service on where you bought the laptop and tell them the situation. But by all mean DO NO continue to use it. You may do damage that they say "Is your fault"

Trust me I have had clients that have "Been there .. done that"

Good luck
