I have a Pioneer PDR 609 CD recorder. I put a disc in and it says Pro disc din unlock.

This is nearly always due to cable problems. I think the cheaper optical cables can get 'kinked' quite easily, which would stop the signal coming through properly. So, first check your settings to make sure the correct cable type has been selected. If that's OK, try replacing the cable with a good quality one.

Jensen DVD will not play dvds it say no signal and disc error.

It sounds that the optical pickup unit is faulty. Put a disc cleaning disc into the set, and play it once. If the fault is with dust or dirt, it will be cleared out. If not, replace the optical pickup unit.

Technics cd changer sl-mc59 says C F 19 it does not read disc

HelloDisc reading is done by the laser pickup assembly. If it has some trouble with it, the lead-in and lead-out signals and other music signals cannot be read from the CD disc we insert into. There are mainly three reasons for this fault. The first one is with dirty laser pickup assembley focussing lens. If the lens has accumulated with dirt or dust, the intensity or laser beam that hits the disc will be weak, and so the reflected beame too. This will lead improper reading of the lead-in signals, and the set will show no-disc after a while. Put a laser head cleaning disc [this disc can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town], play it for at least three times, and see whether it helps you.If not, try replacing the flat ribbon plastic cable that connects the laser head assembly to the main board of the player. Actually this is a very skilled work, as you have to dismanle the mechanism out from the set. If these two processes does not help you, repalce the laser pickup assembely with same type and number. OK.

Hi when i put the XDcam DLA 50 GB disc in my Sony PDW 510 XDCam recorde geve code 03 - 354 error. i dont know about dat. do You can help me ? Thank

03-354

03: optical drive two-axis (FCS, TRK)
-354: No signal from disc required for OP focus servo can be detected. Disc is not rotating

I would try another disc and if you get the same error call Sony's service center.

I used a disk cleaner because I kept getting a "No Disc" message after putting one in for recording. (same disc I had used previously that worked). It still reads no disc, then I put a recorded movie in and...

It sounds like the unit may be beginning to fail. DVDs are created in one of two ways - they are either burned (when you create one with the recorder) or they are stamped (most commercial DVDs are created from a master this way.) As the unit ages, the strength of the laser used to "read" the DVD begins to get weaker and weaker, eventually becoming too weak to read even the best DVDs. Not all commercial DVDs are created equally, which means some may have a deeper, neater pit pressed into the substrate making it possible for a weak signal to get reflected and read by the hardware (hence, you will experience the ability the read some commercial DVDs and not others.)

DVDs you create at home creates the "pits" by focusing the laser beam on a dye layer and causing a dye to change from translucent to opaque. Where the dye is translucent the laser beam is reflected back to the reader and where it is opaque, not. We get the 0 and 1 state that digital signals use to reproduce/transmit signals in this way.

You may be able to get the unit serviced and have the board that sends/receives the laser beam replaced - but that may be as expensive as buying a new unit, complete with warranty.

Cannot record on Sansui VRDVD4005

Usually this would signal a bad disc, but if the discs have been known to be good, then your lens may be failing.

Model DRC 8310 RCA VCR/DVD player/recorder combo.

Did you put a splitter onto the cable signal? If yes, the signal is attenuated to much and there simply isn't enough signal for the recorder to decode. Call your cable company and request a signal amplifier be placed on your line. It's usually free.
