Question about Refrigerators

Make: Hotpoint Model: HSM25GFRF SA Ice maker is not making ice fast enough and from what I can tell the temperature of the freezer is not cold enough. I replace the main board with model WR55x10942 which is supposed to be a direct replacement and it asks you to cut the thermister wire on P1 during the install procedures. I did that as instructed but ever since I have had the above mentioned problem. It also says to check the temperature board but I do not know where it is located or how to check it. Can anyone help?

Why do I need to thaw it out? It is just getting cold enough to freeze. The temperature is only going down to 14 degrees.

I have not received a satisfactory answer to my question. Can anyone else help? My freezer seems to not be getting cold enough after replacing the main board. I have the temperature turned down as low as it will go. The compressor is running as well as the fan on the condenser.

That is strange that it would want you to cut that thermistor wire... it said to do that regardless of what model you are installing the unit into?!

Very bizarre, checking into this but let me know

Not making ice as fast as it use to

Typical freezer temperature is around -18C or '0 'F. First check that this is true in your unit. If the freezer is not cold the ice maker will not perform as fast. The colder the freezer the faster the cycle.

Make sure that air flow around the ice maker is clear.

If air flow is good and freezer is around "0" the thermostat that actuates the ice maker cycle could be defective. Replace!
Hope this helps?

My Kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator model 59679243010 ice maker is mot working.

Check your temperatures, that typically happens when the freezer is not cold enough, Clean your condenser, that may be the cheapest fix.

Replaced icemaker. still not making ice but everyonce in awhile. Repair man now says sensors where the ice bucket is need replaced. Do these sensors have anything to do with water filling the ice tray

Hello Gina;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
Send me your model number which is located on the liner wall of your fresh food section.
If your ice maker works some times, your freezer temperature may not be cold enough to make ice cubes.

Give me your model number and tell me more.

Samusung RFG297HDRS Ice maker not cold enough to produce ice.

Suspect that the rubber boot that runs all around the edge of your freezer door is deformed, allowing warm air to seep into your freezer. You will see where your temp sensor is located by clicking into the site of a parts supplier like ShopJimmy.com and pulling up their photo of the guts of your unit.

The icemaker will not harvest if the temperature isn't cold enough. this may be why you are not getting ice.

I have a Hot Point HSM25GFRF SA refrigerator, first the ice maker / water stopped working then the the refrigerator started making a clicking noise and every time it clicks the fsn does one rotation then...

I have the exact same problem.
It stopped dispensing water and ice, then it started to make a clicking noise and now the freezer and the refrigerator don't work.

It's interesting that this failure occurred 3 months after the 5 year warranty expiration.

No Ice

Clogged filter?
On most ice makers, if the water pressure drops too low, the valve will not open to fill the ice maker.

Frozen water line?
On some units, the water line supplying the ice make can freeze up preventing water from getting to the ice maker.

Freezer cold enough?
Are you sure of the temp inside your freezer?
Place a small thermometer that can register temps around the freezing range. (example of a thermometers not to use are: a candy thermometer or a thermometer used to take a person's temp.) If you do not have one or do not want to purchase one, put a bowl of water in your freezer. If the water does not turn to ice in say 6 to 8 hours, your freezer is not cold enough.

Kenmore side by side - icemaker seems to run too fast because the ice cubes are often hollow and they stick together in large clumps. Everything else in the freezer is frozen solid, so I know the freezer...

IF FREEZER IS A THE CORRECT TEMP/ O-10 DEGREES, THE FREEZER IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A THERMOSTAT IN YOUR ICE MAKER, IT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. IT IS A SMALL BI METAL SWITCH THAT TRIGERS ICE MAKER WHEN IT REACHES ITS PROPER TEMP. THE PROBLEM IS, IT IS TRIGERING IT AT TO LOW OF A TEMP.NOT ALLOWING THE ICE TO FREEZE SOLID. IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT CHANGE BIMETAL SWITCH OR CHANGE ICE MAKER ITSELF.
