Question about Thermador CM302U Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

I have a Thermador CM302 every thing apears ok no error codes, but after the oven reaches the temp setpoint the heating element drops out there is no indication that this has happened. The oven is still running convection fan is still running and the display apears normal. This happens on both the lower and upper oven.

Tim I just received the new part and it is very different from the old part. The old part has 6 Molex plug on the relay side of the board and the new one all the wires are separate also a few of the plug are different on the new board. Do you know of any parts variations from year to year? Model# CM302BS I cannot locate the SN#.
There is a number under the Model #, its FD 8608 00077 this unit was made in 2006

    Thanks

Tim I just received the correct part and installed and still have the same issue. Any ideas? I know that when using the meat probe when the sensor hits setpoint the oven will stop but this is not stoping. The temp reading will switch from setpoint to actual temp during preheat then it just reads the setpoint on the display after about 10 minutes i will stop and then reset the oven and the temp will have droped 40 degrees but the readout will not change.
    Please help

Tim, I have returned the first part and ordered a second, the second part is correct. I installed the second part, checked and I still have the same issue any Ideas?

  • aircraft7770 Oct 23, 2010

I will bake something tomorrow and let you know I may have been wrong. I got a different (electronic) temp meter and when set at 200 the temp would drop to 180 before it started to rise. Before it would not come on at all it would be at 200 after 15-20 minutes when the set point was 400 and it had preheated. I thought there would not be this much of a temp swing on this oven. 20F is not a lot but I will check it tomorrow and let you know.

Tim I have run the oven and no change set for 400 and now at 325 and droping. What else would cause this?

Wow, that sounds like the control unit of the oven has stopped doing it's job. I believe that model has separate heating elements for each oven, so there is hardly any chance that both could have failed. You will want to replace the control unit / board of this oven.

Thanks
Tim

Unfortunately not really. The way we would confirm it was bad in a shop would be to just replace the board, if it doesn't fix the problem go to another plan, but I am quite confident it will, and the place I would recommend you get the parts from would allow you to return the board for free for a full refund..

    Thanks

By the way, that place is here... just select your exact model, the letters stand for the color of the unit, White, Black, Stainless...

Strange, it was definitely the correct part recommended for that system. I am checking on this now. You can definitely return it. If you don't hear from me in the next couple hours please reply back, I am checking on it now for you.

Bottom oven isn't heating to desired temp. Considering swapping the heating elements to see if one is faulty - thoughts?

try thermostat first. verify heating elements operational, if so check if tstats are same. swap if so, If not jump out tstat and see if higher temp achieved.

Thermador CM302 shuts off intermittently. No error code, timer remains working.

Dear Craig Buck,

This is either a fault with the timer, or you have a fault with the thermostat. Get a multimeter onto that thermostat and test it, after removing the heating element of course. Then get back in touch with me and I will give you the fix.

Hit "bake" or "broil" button and temp setpoint

Hi

This Error indicates a loose/broken wire on the oven temp sensor or the oven temp. sensor itself is bad and should be replaced. To solve this issue test the oven temp. sensor, it should read between 1080-1120 ohms, if the rating is more then that and the door appears to be closing fine then it is the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I have a Thermador model CM302 with a built in microwave. The microwave makes all the right noises ... but does not heat the food. What's the problem?

I have the same oven and the same exact problem. The problem is with the magnetron. It needs to be replaced.

Our Jenn-Air double oven is 10 yrs old. Will not

There are 3 things that can cause this:

1. Bake or Broil element faulty. The oven cycles these on and off to reach and maintain the average setpoint temperature. If the elements heat poperly during the time they are ON, then they are OK (may be able to see them glow).

2. The temperature sensor probe is faulty. This can cause the oven to think it's hotter than it actually is.

3. The above two causes can be easily diagnosed by a technician with an ohm-meter. If they are both OK, then the problem is in the controller itself. If this is the case you may want to have us repair the controller. We see this fault quite often.

Hope this helps you out.

Bruce

Thermador smw272y won't heat at all

The switches on the first circcuit card mounted horizontally in the space above the microwave enclosure and behind the control pannel have burned to the point that they no longer engage properly to close the power to the oven heating elements. I do not know anyone who has removed the plastic covers and cleaned them to the point of working again properly and do not recommend trying that approach. The only sure solution is to replace the circuit card that has the three switches.
