Question about Refrigerators

2 Answers

We have a LG LRFD25850 REFRIGERATOR. We took out the water filter because it was old and causing the ater dispenser to work slowly but we started to hear cranking noies. Unfortunately, the filter was thrown out. Tonight, we gto an error message on the control panel. i am not sure if it is working. I unplugged and will plug it back in in 15 minutes based on what I read on the web site. Below is the answer from an expert. I don't know if this is the right thin to do? Any suggestions? It is an error code. The thermal fuse in the freezer section has gone. It has to be replaced. To get by in the short term, uplug the unit for 15 minutes, then plug it back in. It will run until it hits the defrost again (approx 5 hours) Part location is 401A and part number is 6615JB2005C. It is easy to change once you get the back cover off. Plug in part.

Water dispenser running slowly

Hello Cynthia;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You have a water pressure problem. You need at least 60 PSI water pressure to open the solenoid valves. I suspect you are getting small ice cubes.

If you have well water you are not going to get the pressure for fully dispenser flow.

I have experienced bad water filters. One time our techs received a large shipment of bad water filters. Remove the water filter and test the water dispenser.

With low water pressure you may not want to use a water filter

I emptied my ice tray completely, it dispenses water, but stopped

Had that happen to me once. I took a hair dryer and (VERY CAREFULLY) thawed out the frozen water in the tube. Work fine after that. Remember water and electricity DO NOT MIX!! Your best bet may be to unplug the fridge, open the freeze door and let the tube thaw out naturally.

Water/ice dispenser not working

Depending on the age of your house, large chunks of minerals may have dislodged in the water piping system, and is flooding the filter cartridge with trash. I had this happen recently on a 15 year old house that water stopped flowing in 4 cold water faucets of the bathroom.

Try this -

1) Roll the fridge out from the wall
2) Turn the water off at the wall.
3) Disconnect the water line from the back of the fridge
4) Get a bucket and stick the line into the bucket.
5) Slowly open the valve and see if water comes out. If it does, let it run for 20-30 secs at a decent flow, then turn off. If not water comes out, then you have a different problem. The cause may be the same, but it's not the refrigerator.

If water does come out, check the bucket to see if there are chunks of mineral buildup in the bottom, or floating in the water.

If there are minerals, then again, let the line run until the water runs clear. Open the valve as full open as you can to increase the water velocities and flush the chunks. Also, if no water comes through the tube, there may be trash in the valve itself, and you will likely need to call a plumber to repair unless your handy. I can describe how to repair, but that is another subject.

If everything flushes clear and you have flow, then get yourself a new filter, and try again. If there was mineral buildup, it is possible that some got through the filter and has built up inside the refrigerator water tubing. That again is another issue that I can help you with.

Water leak from dispenser

The reservoir inside has to be replaced. After numerous calls to LG, I finally got the LG Mobile Service Tech to service it, and the water reservoir has been completely redesigned....can you say "design flaw?" Now, since the new "tube" has replaced the "reservoir," I have little green things floating in my filtered water! I hate LG products.
