You should be able to determine your print size by left clicking at the top left on FILE and then PRINT PREVIEW. Once you open Print PREVIEW, in the middle of the page is a box that says SCALE. Adjust your page size from that. Please note I am using Windows XP, don't know what your operating system is.

Reduce the file size of a PDF file

Sometimes when we scan a document and the output file is PDF the file size is too big which is very difficult to send as an email attachment. This also happens when you convert word documents into PDF format.

This guide assumes that Adobe Acrobat Professional or Standard is already installed on your computer for PDF conversion.

On your current PDF File click on File then select Print

On the Print window select Adobe PDF as the Printer Name then click on the Properties Tab

On the PDF Document Properties Window under Default Settings drop down, select Smallest File Size.

Click on OK on all open windows. This will start the conversion process. When it's finished this will prompt you to save the file. It is advisable to save the file in a different file name rather than replacing the original copy.

After the conversion you may compare the file size of the original file and the reduced PDF file. The reduced file can now be sent on email attachments easily.

Printer not printing. Get message from microsoft office saying: the margins of section one are set outside the printable area of the page. Do you want to continue. If I press yes, nothing happens. Have...

This is not a fault of the printer. The document you are trying to print is wider than A4/Letter.
Return to your document and reduce the size of the margins. Resave it and try printing it again.

When printing a duplex booklet, the printout is reduced in size with larger margins than in original document. How can I get it to print regular size?

It happens when the documents is on A4 size and the printer is set to print on letter size (which is smaller in size). Hence the printer automatically resizes the prints which result in larger margins and print as compared to the actual document.
Therefore, when you print the documents (Press Ctrl+P) you have to select the paper (A4) from the print properties.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

How do you fax a document that is 11 by 14 inches?

Most fax machines and printers will scan and fax an 11x14 document. Just check your owners manual to see if any settings need to be changed AND contact the person you are faxing to let them know to put 11x14 paper in their machine, or some of the print may be lost if the fax will be printed on two 8x11 sheets.

If you don't have your owners manual, post a question and include the manufacturer and model number of your fax machine or printer and one of us will look it up for you.

Is there a way to change the size (make it smaller) of a scanned document?

You can also reduce size when you add an image to a document like Word but this only reduces visual size.
To reduce the actual size you will need some type of image editing software.
Photoshop is most widely used but there are others available.

I scanned a document, but when I go to attach the file, it stays in attaching files forever??

Greg, Do you mean that when you want to send it by email it keeps attaching the file forever? If yes then check the size of the scanned document. What happens is that the moment you attach a document to an email Windows start sending it to the email server and that takes time as uploading is slower than downloading. And if the file a large one as scanned documents can be, then it will take that much longer. Try a smaller document first. Size wise small document. If that works fine then you can try larger documents. yes it may be time consuming but there is no price for mental satisfaction. To reduce the size of the scanned document, reduce the pixels in settings of the scanner. or reduce the page size. You will find the document reduced many times over.
