Question about Ovens

1 Answer

Appliance: Whirlpool Gas Range Model: SF385PEGQ5 Problem: The stove top works fine. But every time I use the oven, it shuts off at least once sometime before the baking time is complete. I have always been able to finish baking what I want to by restarting the oven, pressing "bake" and then "start." When the oven shuts off, the clock usually goes to 1:11 and a "PF" is displayed, indicating a power failure. I use a separate timer because the timer on the clock quits when the oven does. Background: In June, I replaced the ECR. The oven worked for 6 or 7 weeks. Then it began quitting as described above, only not every time I used it. In August, I got an E1 F1 error code. I replaced the ECR again. I can bake now, but with the problem I have described.

I found the terminal block on the power cord. I unplugged it and examined the prongs. I did not find any evidence of them having been burned. i did not find any evidence of burnt connections on any part of the terminal block. The wall plug and house outlet also looked good. The third place I checked was the terminal block where the power plugs in to the ECR. The plug and prongs there looked good too.
I hope that there isn't something going on that is going to ruin my ECR.
Do you think it could still be my power cord?
Is there something else that could be causing the oven to stop?
Here's another thought. Other times when there has been a power outage with our local utility (we just had one last week), the oven clock will display "PF" and the time when the blackout occurred. But when it quits while baking, the clock displays "PF" and a time of 1:11 continuously until I set the clock again to the correct time.

Hello,

Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the oven, gets burned and so breaks the connection. Then you may have to replace the power cord to the oven, and the terminal block that the wire is attached to.

Take care.

    Hello,

If after clearing the display, the problem still continue, you will need to call for service, the circuit board could be at fault. Also make sure the power cord
connections are secure where they are connected to the oven itself.

Why won't my oven let me set the temperature after a power failure?

Good Morning Annette,

I see that you are having trouble with setting the temperature of your oven on your range, model# FGB24S5A, after a power failure. I also see that you have reset your appliance by unplugging it and are receiving an error message of SAG or 5AB. I have looked into the model number that you have listed and it shows as a wall oven. I also do not show either of those error codes you have shown. If you can please get me the model number off your range, so I can better assist. The model number will either be right inside the oven on the back of the door or it may be located inside the bottom drawer. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Whirlpool Gas Range SF357PEKQ0 -- over heats; will not shut off; have to turn off at gas line behind stove. Error Code: F3E2. Is the replacement part I need the thermostat sensor? Is this part easy enough...

Hi lkanderson97,

This error code F3:E2 means that Oven temperature is too high (Cook mode). The only way to resolve this issue is to replace Oven temperature sensor (RTD). This part can be replaced by your husband. You may contact Sears for the replacement part at 1-800-252-1698; M-F 6:30 AM-10:30 PM - Sat 7:00 AM-9:30 PM - Sun 7:30 AM-9:30 PM - All times Central. Just get your model number ready when you call. Once you got the part instruction is also provided on how you'll replace the sensor.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

The oven will not light on my Whirlpool gas oven Mod SF368LEPQ 2. The stove top burners still light.

Sounds like you need an bake element ignitor if the bake doesn't work but if the broil also doesn't work, it could be the electronic clock/timer control. the part number for the bake ignitor is 8054129 .Best off to call a reliable service company such as Sears.

The pilot light must be lit and stay lit before you will have any propane coming into the oven. This is a safety feature.

Whirlpool Gold Series double oven electric model GBD307-PDQ309

Usually this is a touchpad and control panel fault but the only way to know for sure is to do some electrical testing with a volt/ohm meter and the wiring diagram located within the appliance.

With the model number of the oven we could look up the code and be more specific about the problem.

Whirlpool Accubake Super Capacity 465 gas range. Oven won't light

Some gas ranges may take 10 or so minutes to light.
Other than that you may have a defective glow bar ignitor.
If it glows and does not light the reistance in the ignitior has failed.
