Question about Sony BDP-S350 Blu-Ray Player

1 Answer

After trying to install updated firmware,my sony BPDS350 stopped working,it won't even power on.. Looking at the back of the player you can tell power is getting to the player cuz you can see a red light on the inside.. We've unplugged and waited 60 seconds and plugged it back in,we tried a couple different outlets and nothing Sony says I have to send it for repair but I'm afraid of the cost.. How can I fix it?

how can I tell which one it is, the fuse or the inverter? I did a search on etech and google and can't find the parts, or what size that player would take.. Also,is this something easy to do for someone who doesn't know anything about the inside of a dvd player? Or should we just pay to send it to sony?

Either the fuse is blown, or replacing the power inverter. You may be able to get them from etech.com

If you remove the cover you should see the fuse next to the power inverter which is attached to the plugin cable. You should be able to see through the fuse. There should be a thin wire running all the way across the fuse. If the wire is burnt or broken, the fuse is bad. If the fuse is good, then the power inverter is bad and the old one would have to be soldered off and a new one purchased from partstore.com and soldered in.

If you have an ohmmeter, then you can place it on the rx1 setting and test the fuse that way too.

To update :

Updating the firmware of your Sansa MP3 player is easy, and it will correct problems with the original software, and even add new features. Follow the instructions below to bring your device up to date. If you have any questions about the process, please consult the Sandisk website and support forums for more specific information. Links to these sites are provided at the end of this article.

things you'll need:

* A Sansa MP3 Player
* A Computer with an Internet Connection

instruction:

Automatic

Verify that the player is fully charged.

Verify the the player is unplugged from your computer.

Go to the Sandisk support site, linked below, select your player, and download the Sansa Firmware Updater software. Follow the instructions for installing it on your computer. If you need them, you may also download user manuals for your or watch how-to videos on updating the firmware.

Put the player in MSC mode. Go to the settings menu, select the USB submenu, and then select MSC. Some players with early firmwares do not have the USB options in the menu. If this is the case with your device, then there is another way to force it into MSC mode: Put the device in "hold" mode by sliding the hold switch until orange is visible. Next, press and hold the left (rewind) button until the screen changes. Go to the next step.

Plug your Sansa player into your computer and wait. The Firmware updater should launch automatically. Follow the prompts to update your player. Be certain not to unplug your player until the updater is finished. The software will tell you when it is safe to disconnect.

Tips & Warnings

If the above does not work for any reason, there is another way to update the firmware, by manually installing the necessary files. Consult the official support forum for specific instructions for your device. See the link below.

Be sure not to unplug your device while it is being updated. This could permanently ruin it.

Hope it helped...

Hello
On rare occations, firmware udate download may not get completed. Some packets may missing or doesn't processed properly. This may happen to all firmware update processes. Just udate once more, and wait til update to be completed. After downloading the software, the it will be processed and installed in the system itsef. during this process, some files will be downloaded intermittenly. So don't swich off the modem or switch off the power of the player. You will be informed after sucessul download. I thinks that you have now switched off the set as soon as the download has been completed. it may not got installed in your player. Update once more as you did earlier. The previously downloaded files will be there. Sometimes, the installation take place as soon as you connected the system to modem. It will take atleast one to one and half hours to finish the process. Reset or other won't help you now. OK.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the BD player cannot read or play a disc:

1. Ensure the Easy Setup procedure has been completed on the BD player.

NOTE: Can't play DISC may display on the LCD screen if the Easy Setup procedure was not completed first.
2. Ensure the inserted disc is compatible with the BD player.

NOTE: Consult the instruction manual of the BD player for a list of compatible discs.Manuals are available online through the Manuals/Specs/Warranty link on this page.
3. Select BD players may require that a USB memory device has been properly inserted into the EXT slot of the player prior to playing the movie. If the BD player being used does not have an EXT input, skip this step.

NOTE: The USB memory device may need to be re-formatted to FAT32 format prior to inserting it into the player.
4. Use a soft cloth to clean the disc.
5. Examine the disc for any cracks or scratches that might be interfering with playback.
6. Attempt to play another disc.

NOTE: If another disc plays in the player, then the previous disc may be faulty. In this case, contact the Customer Information Service Center at 800-222-7669 to speak with a customer service representative for further troubleshooting.
7. Remove the disc from the BD player.
8. Turn off the BD player.
9. Unplug the power cord of the BD player from the electrical outlet.

11. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
12. Turn on the BD player.

Sony BDP-S300.

I had the same problem and sent an email to Sony. Here's the answer (it worked) :
Go to page 53 of Operating Instructions Manual and reset the player as indicated.

If you do not have the manual, here's what to do : Press Power On button. Power On light will come up. Now, Looking at front panel you have (at right side) 5 switches : Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind, and Fast Forward. Stop is the center switch.
Now, with Power On light on (it lasts only about 30 seconds), HOLD DOWN the STOP button and PRESS POWER ON button (the power on light has to be ON). This will reset the player. It worked with mine one.

Sony Nwa3000 appears dead??

First things first-have you pressed the reset button on the bottom of the unit? Secondly- try updating the firmware on your unit the manual way - Go to this link. http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowArticle.action?section=en_GB_Products&articlesection=1&article=1154694485490&productcategory=%2FAudio%2FNetwork+Walkman&productmodel=%2FAudio%2FNetwork+Walkman%2FNW-A3000&productsku=NWA3000B.CEK&site=odw_en_GB Go to download the latest version of Sonicstage but dont actually do it. At some point there is a link to update your firmware to version 3.0. Try doing this again, going through the update procedure it suggests, even if you already have 3.0 installed. This might work. Worth a try at least!
