The channel that is weak will either have a faulty transistor or a bad capacitor on it. Most engineers would test it by injecting signals into the circuit at different points. Working backwards from the front end. When the signal goes weak, you have found the faulty stage.

Su v8 down on one channel

it would be either:

a) amp or speaker , try to turned off unit, interchange the speaker wire,

the speaker wire on the right channel try to connect it on the left channel,

the right speaker wire to the the left channel .

b) say if the same channel produce weak audio, then the problem is on the SU v8 amp.

c) inside the amp, there are main amp and preamp with selector

switches.

d) try to test , if all inputs , produce the same symptoms.

e) say same symptoms, now try to interchange cables if using

external sources produce the same symptoms.

f) if still have, then inside the unit , it would be either left main amp

or preamp.

g) you can try for a test, connecting direct to "IN" at the back to test

if the main amp is having problem.

Left channels weak and statiky

Maybe your amp is bad? Swich your right and left wires around and see. If the problem moves your player is bad. If it doesn't your amp is bad. Doubt it is the amp though if it is all of your left channels.

The left speaker channel on my NAD T761 receiver is very weak. I can hear music coming out, but very soft and cracking... Please help me out!

Try to swap the input connector, Hook up the right to left input and then the left to right input. If the symptoms is still there then you have a faulty output IC on the left channel. This is not DIY and I've advice you to send it to repair shop to isolate the problem. Hope that you have only a dry joints on that area.
Thanks for using fixya.

I only hear the left side of my one turntable. the right side sound just barely comes in

Remove the wires to the cartridge. With the turntable connected to an audio source, touch the ends of the loose wires with your finger (one at a time). You should hear a good buzz on either channel on at least two of the wires. If you still get a weak channel, the problem is either inside the turntable, a bad connection, or a fault on the audio source. If the buzz is good on both channels, then the cartridge is to blame.

Left channel sounds weak and distorted. What could be the problem?

If it sounds weak on the tuner as well as all other sources then make sure the wires connecting the speaker and the receiver are not touching. Make sure the balance control is centered. Make sure none of the switches and controls are not causing the problem by turning them while playing through the left channel. If all that checks out then there are possible bad output transistors, resistors or capicitors in the left side output section.

Viewsonic N3250W- turns on, the screen flickers on then its black

This could be a problem with the tv's memory. Try resetting the TV. Unplug the unit for a few seconds (10-60). Then restore the TV to the factory default settings. Viewsonic has changed it's menus at intervals so you may have to check your manual. It may be Menu > Setup > Memory Recall or Menu > Options > Restore Default (or something slightly different). From there, click enter, use the right or left arrow to select YES, hit enter. Leave the menu system (Menu twice). Then hit Menu > Channels and rescan all channels.

An alternative cause of the problem may be a weak signal - check that your antenna is pointing right at the station and is the correct type to get the signal at the distance you are from the station. (Usually a weak signal would also have the audio breaking up but weird things can happen.)

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(who recently had a channel pair that started out with flickering signal issues and then had one channel lose video and the other audio. The memory reset and rescan resolved the problem.)

Audio volume is weak from left channel but good from right. Problem appears to be after the amp stage as the problem still exists if i swap the audio in L to R. Also tried swappping the speakers and...

More likley that there is a fault in either the pre-amp or power amp of the left channel. To be honest with you it's one of the most diffcult problems you can have, unless you can see a burnt or damaged part. All you can do is compare the parts in the right channel with those in the left.
Touching the parts in either channel with a screwdriver (don't short any) will cause a buzz! This can be used to test the channels. Work backwards from the power amp section. Remember a buzz in the right should give you one in the same place on the left!
PS KEEP AWAY FROM THE POWER SUPPLY.
If you are not good with electronics consult someone who is.

Akai recording problem

You might have a bad cable to the recorder (try swapping the right and left connections and see if the problem moves to the other channel), dirty tape heads (use a cotton swab and head cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to clean them), or a circuit problem inside the recorder. Hope this gets you started!
