Question about HP LaserJet 5mp Printer

1 Answer

My HP 5 MP printer says memory not sufficient when there is a word document of say 10 or 20 pages without tables, graphs, or pictures. What to do? It has 3 MB memory. Is it enough or not? The message on a page I get when it does not print the entire document is as follows: the job require more memory than is available in this printer. try one of these: for the output format, choose Optimize for Portability. Where do I fix this? In the Device seting page, make sure teh Available PostScript Memory is accurate. How to find what is the accurate amount of memory? and where to find it? Reduce the number of fonts in the documnet. How can this be done? Print the document in parts? How this can be done? Thank you an advance for your good help.

Does it happen from every word-document? This is a postscript error. It can be in your document (you can test it by making an other document in word and print it. If it comes out properly, than you have to look for components like photo's, pictures, graphs in your document that causes the problem. It can also be a problem of your driver. In that case you need to uninstall and re-install your printer again. It can also be a memory problem of your printer. Please turn off your printer, wait a while, than turn it on again and see if it is still the same problem.

In the printer driver's properties page, disable the bidirectional support.

Start => Control Panel => Printers =>
right click on your printer =>
Properties, under the 'Details' tab click "Spool Settings" and down the bottom you can choose not to support bidirectional support

Your step bt step may not be exactly that depending on your OS. For instance, in Windows 7, this setting is under the PORTS tab

Since you didn't specify what OS you are running, that's the best I can do for the moment.

Printing multiple test pages

Check for a sticking button on the printer itself. The big Green button will produce a test print if pushed. Also try disconnecting it from the wall outlet overnight to reset it.

I have an HP Color LaserJet 3800 printer. I am trying to print a document and it keeps printing: PCL XL error Subsystem: GEDI Error: MemA L LocError Operator: ReadImage Position: 743

That means that the printer does not have sufficient memory tp [rint the document, if it is a text document (eg word) try to print pages in groups, if it is a different document try the following:
" I receive a 'PCL XL error' on my HP 4100mfp when making a 2 page copy as one page in duplex? Why?
The problem is related to a printer memory problem.

If following parameters are set in the HP 4100mfp you will receive and 'Insufficient Memory" error.
1) In 'COPYING' the 'IMAGE QUALITY' is set to 'BEST'
2) In 'ORIGINALS' the 'CONTENT' is set to 'PHOTO'

Following error message is printed:

PCL XL error

Subsystem: GEDI
Error: InsufficientMemory
Operator: EndSession
Position: 32

The solution is to set 'CONTENT' to 'MIXED' or 'TEXT' or set 'IMAGE QUALITY' to 'NORMAL' or you can add additional memory to the HP 4100mfp. "

1. This printer is not specifically a postript printer. It uses HP PCL printer control language, according to HP it does not support Postcript, see the table on page 15 of this pdf file: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00442162/c00442162.pdf page

2 Screen prints are not directly sent to the printer. They are copied to the Clipboard - you must open up another application which can access graphics - WordPad , Word, Excel. E.G from wordpage paste the screen print (using Control + V or Edit-> Paste) and the contents of the clip board will appear in the document - use the print option from wordpad to print this graph to your HP 1010 printer.
