SOURCE: GE ARTIC PROFILE REFRIGERATOR....INTERMITTENT HEATING

Sarct, the question is, was the freezer side ok, if it was, I would suspect the damper not opening. If the freezer side was warm too, then I would suspect the evaporator thermistor not sending the signal to the board to terminate the defrost. Have the tech first check the continuity at connector J3. He should have 400ohms at J3-1 to J3-2 and the same at J3-3 to j3-4. If he doesn't get those readings have him check at the damper motor itself. If he doesn't have it there, replace the damper motor. If the damper motor passes all the checks then it's on to the evaporator thermistor. Have him check the resistance. At 5 degrees it should ohm at approx 36K ohms. The evap thermostat is redundant to the defrost operation. It's there as a back up in the event the evap thermistor fails to terminate the defrost. It's normally closed and will open at 140 degrees.

Unplug and closely examine the area for a loose fan blade or anything that may be causing the noise. Better now than to get damage that could be prevented. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Check to see if there is any obstruction (object of any kind) in the ice cube mold area. If nothing found, you will have to replace the icemaker, as individual repair parts are not available.

SOURCE: GE PROFILE REFRIGERATOR MOTHER BOARD PROBLEMS

Go into the diagnostic mode on your touch display .
1) . Press any button on the display 1 time except the temp adjust buttons.
2) Press the temp up and down on both the freezer AND refrig (all 4 at the same time)
3) when 0's show , release the buttons and press any button except for the temp adjust buttons .
4) NOW , fress the temp adjust buttons until the freezer side displays 0 and the refrig side displays 7 . 0 and 7 is for the thermistors test .
5) After 0 and 7 display , press any button again except temp adjust , and this will start the thermistor check .
6) You will have 7 thermistor tests , indicated on the refrig display , starting at 1 , then 2 then .......
7) The feezer display will tell for the corresponding thermistor , indicated by the refrig display , if the thermistor p = pass , s = short , b = bad (replace board)

After determining if or which thermistor is bad , then adjust the display to 1 on freezer display and 6 on the refrig display . This ends the testing procedure and resets the refrig back to normal .

Yes I would agree that you get another refrigerator! The GE PSS27SGRSS is an Artic/Profile model and people have had nothing but complaints about the motherboard problems. I recommend you buy something that has no motherboard or electronic defrost. The best refrigerators out there are ones that have the simple defrost timer and no electronics, Thanks Sea Breeze

Fluctuation of temperature GE Profile

g.e has mother boards or computer board in them located on the back outside wall, your board is on the top left, part number wr55x10942,everything on your machine runs through that board, also look at the evaporator coil where the thermostat is,there's a sensor on the top of the coil,it looks like a white bullet,if there's a black ring around it where the wires connect to it you also have to change that too.wr55x10025.go here and look at picture,if your board doesn't have all the relays like on this board then you don't have the updated board
http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Main-Control-Board/WR55X10942/1531075the new board has all 7 relays and is the newest board.hope this helps and good luck with it.

G.E. has had problems with the main computer board located on the back outside wall of the machine, you need to give the parts store or whoever you get the board from the full model number to get the correct board.i looked up the machine with the number you sent but there are 2 different boards that they show so open the fridge door, look up near the ceiling on the right hand wall and you'll see the model and serial number, all you need is the full model number or you can send it to me and i can look it up for you.good luck

there's a computer board on the back wall of the fridge,it powers that display, everything runs through the board, also read the instructions,it will tell you to look at one of the plug in connectors,if there's a wire in the second pin of the connector you have to cut it,the new board is updated and that wire has to be cut out if it's there, read the directions and you'll see what i mean.the board is around 200 bucks,i believe the board number is wr55x10942 but give your parts guy the model number and they will give you the correct board

Sounds like you have a bad main control board . The original pt # is WR55X10552 . The replacement board is WR55X10656 . Your original board , is on a recall list , and GE should come out and replace under an extended warranty .

GE Profile - model PDS22 - constant clicking noise

Yeah, same problem. There are two capacitors that seem to be prone to going out. You can replace the main board, or (if you can solder) replace the two capacitors with slightly larger ones (radio shack mdl number 272-1030 works) just remember to bend them away from the heat sink if you go that route.

BLANK DISPLAY AND CLICKING SOUND

This is the main control board failing. My symptoms were identical (intermittent display and clicking), and eventually the clicking didn't go away and the freezer got hot. I replaced the main board yesterday and all is well (display fixed and no clicking). I was able to find the correct part number using the GE website (entered refrigerator model PD22S1S and then selected PDS22S1SARSS from the drop-down list). My part number was WR55X10656. The GE price was shown as $157.50, but I bought mine from ApplianceZone.com for $101.68. Hope this helps.
