Undo the bolts on side that hold the bar..adjust the bar and chain by pushing it away fromyou.. There may be a finer set screw that youwill have to adjust and then tighting the bolts up. Also ...If you have used this chain many times ...It may need to be replaced. They stretch out after a while.

How do I tighten the chain on my Remington 14 in. 2 hp electric chain saw? Have used tightening screw, does do anything. Loosened the blade bolts trying to move the blade out slightly. Doesn't work...

Mitch if you attempted what is in the manual, and it is not working we would have to see and touch the saw to determine what has failed. If you loosened the bar bolts before trying the adjuster and it did not work, I suggest a trip to a local saw shop.

Chain adjustment pages 1, 8 and 9.

I replaced the chain on the poulan el 14 and when I would tighten the aft bolt this caused the chain to begin to stick when I would manually move the chain

Poulan "1420 Electric Saw Type 2" (may not be your saw)http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/1420-Electric-Saw-Type-2/75.1420-Electric-Saw-Type-2.1.59.1.html
Open the link; Click "View the illustrated parts list [GO]" link; open the "Illustrated Parts Lists" folder; Click "Chain Saw Assembly Type 2". Compare items 20 and 21 with your saw, the flared portion of 20 should be toward the clutch cover not the engine and on the clutch side of the bar. The only other thing that comes to mind is item 23 should fit into the hole on the bar (the bar should be tight against the oiler channel; engine side of the case.). HTH

If these are correct please add comments below and we will continue.

I need a new part that holds the two screws which fasten the chain. I also need the little metal piece which tighten the chain using a screw driver. please respond to me dlehman@adamswells.com

Find and reference the IPL for your saw here:
Remington.com
http://www.desaparts.com/index.htm
  • Type "YourModelNo" into the "Model #:" window, then click search.
  • Click the YourModelNo - Remington Electric Chain Saw "View Model" link.
  • Click “View Owners Manual” or "View Illustrated Parts Breakdown" link.
They are no longer in production and replacement parts are almost exhausted. If your parts are NLA; try an Internet search for "Remington YourPartNumber". We can do no more. Good luck

Please do not punish my rating because you are unhappy with Remington. I provided a very helpful answer, just not the one you wanted to hear.

Remington.com

Enter M15014US (your saw) in the “Search for your unit by Model” window. You can find both an Operator's Manual and IPL. I recommend you download both.

Item 4 lists available bars for your saw, a 14" bar for your saw is pn 114731-01S, $17.85 if available.
Item 5 lists available chains for your saw, a 14" chain for your saw is pn 114735-01S updates to M14SC
, $12.95 if available. You can probably take your chain to a neighborhood chainsaw shop and have a replacement made cheaper.

Remington has ceased production and replacement parts are limited to what is on hand. HTH
