What you have to do is to i dont know if know how to open the laptop if you can check to see that the processor cooling fan is rolling and try check your hard drive to be sure that is working, also remove memory and clean the memory slot.

Now what yu will need to do is press on the f10 key to enter bios setup. at bios setup, go to boot order then make the first boot device to hard disk. if it doest work, then restart n still go back to bios setting and restore default settings. it should work this time.
if it still fails, remove the hard drive n see what happens.
thank u

Have you tried a "Cold-Start" ? unplug laptop, remove battery, hold down on/off button for 10secs or so. Replace battery, plug in laptop, re boot. Does it get to the pre-boot stage? does it show the options BOOT MENU, SETUP, BIOS or similar options?

Hi,

I think you talk about the shield

  1. Please connect the laptop to external monitor or LCD projector, and see what is going on.
  2. You can boot in safe mode, then go to the device manager, uninstall the vga driver, reboot, and boot ordinary, then install the vga driver

Please tell us your results

This is the solution from dell website :"Connect your computer to an electrical outlet to charge the battery. If the problem persists, call Dell for technical assistance". if laptop have warrenty then take it to DELL. if no warrenty, if you know how to open laptop , just replace the CMOS battery. or take out the CMOS battery for minute or two, and put it back. try both methods. if problem persists take it to DELL. best of luck..

Hello i have an hp Pavilion dv9000 laptop. I use

yes, i would definately try removing the memory modules and blow some forced air into the connectors as well as using alcohol on a q-tip to clean the module contacts before inserting them back into the board. If it still does not properly boot, try removing one module making sure the remaining module is seated into the #1 slot, and reboot. If it does not boot, remove and replace with the other one, leaving that one out, reboot. If, at that time, it boots, you now know which module, if any, are bad.

Configuring updates dont stop

I'll assume last known good configuration didn't work, if you press f8 and choose disable automatic restart on failure, you should see the blue screen of death with more info, when you reboot the next time,(you may have to hold in power button for 5 secs), press f8 and see if Repair my computer is listed on the Microsoft Startup menu, if not, insert a windows vista disk and restart, booting to the cd(should happen automatically, but look for a prompt to press a key) choose your language, then choose repair my computer, choose the windows installation, and you can try to use system restore to go back before the uodates were installed and updated, then disable automatic updating so it doesn't repeat.

Laptop Wont Boot Up

In that situation, try to boot it in SAFE MODE. You get into this by pressing F8 during boot up. The menu will come up and you choose the mode you want. While in safe mode you will have to try and use system restore to go back to when the computer was working. It's like PC time travel.
