This is using the xD card? M or H? These cards may not be compatible as they use newer technology. Get the firmware upgrade and follow instructions to the T. Here is the instructions:

http://dl01.olympus-imaging.com/ww/pb/amend/fwup_c740c750e.pdf

and here is the firmware link, go down to C-740 UZ and select english.

This error message means that the card is corrupted or formatted for another digital camera. Turn off the camera. Insert a new card or format the card.
Try to format the memmory card using a card reader and the PC this should solve your problem if not you have to replace the memmory card.

Hi,
The camera may display a MEMORY STICK ERROR or C:13:xx message (xx can be any random number) on the LCD screen for the following reasons:
IMPORTANT: If model-specific information is required to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product. Manuals are available online in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.
  1. Remove and re-insert the Memory Stick® media several times.
  2. The inserted Memory Stick media is not compatible with the camera. Check your instruction manual for information regarding Memory Stick media compatibility.
  3. The inserted Memory Stick media is not formatted. Format the Memory Stick media using the FORMAT option in the camera menu. WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. Formatting will erase all stored data, images, movies, etc., from the Memory Stick media.
  4. The terminals on the Memory Stick media are dirty. Remove the Memory Stick media from the camera and use a soft dry cloth or pencil eraser to clean the contacts. Make sure there are no residual particles on the Memory Stick media before re-inserting it into the camera.
  5. The data on the Memory Stick media or the Memory Stick media itself is damaged. Try using a different Memory Stick media in the camera.

Thanks

When i insert the xd card i get a message saying card error or card full even though the card is empty. any ideas on how to fix this or is time to replace it.

1) Try and clean the contacts on the card, soft dry cloth. I don't think you can get at the contacts in the camera, but you could give the card port a blast of compressed air if you got a can.

2) As the card is empty, try a re-format in the camera.

3) It could be you need a new card, a backup is always handy but if you can borrow one, try that first.

Try to take pictures and camera says "clean card." I clean card with dry cloth and get same message?

There may be an issue with the card that is being understood by the camera as "dirty" contacts. Try using the camera with a different (or new) card to see if the problem persists. If it does not - it is a problem with that *particular* card. Before discarding, you may be able to get the existing data off the "bad" card by inserting it into a separate card reader ($15 - $50 depending on how many formats it understands) connected to the computer via USB.

If the the same error is displayed on every card you put into the camera, it means it is an issue with camera. It may be dirt build up on the contacts inside the camera - or worse. Either way, it means the camera should be sent out for repair - or be replaced.

I hope this was very helpful - good luck!

I keep getting error 99. I've cleaned the sensors with a new eraser; I've changed the battery and changed the memory card. If I take out the battery and put it back in, I can take a picture. If I pause for...

Hello:

Here is what Canon said :

To isolate the cause of the issue, we suggest that you do the
following:

1. Turn off the camera.
2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card.
3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes.
4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.

Does the "ERR 99" message appear? If it does, then the camera should
be serviced. If it does not, then please proceed to the next set of
steps:

1. Turn off the camera.
2. Insert the CF card.
3. Turn on the camera.
4. Format the CF card in the camera.

Does the "ERR 99" message appear? If so, then the CF card is the most likely source of the issue. Try using a different card.

If the message does not appear, please complete the following steps:

1. Turn off the camera.
2. Clean the lens contacts by gently rubbing them with a pencil eraser
or soft cloth. Be careful that you do not let any debris fall into the
camera body.
3. Reattach your lens.
4. Turn on the camera.

If the "ERR 99" message only appears when one particular lens is
attached, then that lens should be examined by a service technician.

If you see the "ERR 99" with a different Canon lens attached, then the
camera should be serviced.

I hope this will help

Sounds like the contacts for the cards are dirty. Turn off the camera and remove the batteries before doing the following.

Try taking a piece of card stock (or a manilla folder) and cut it to the size (width only) of your memory card. Fold it to make it thicker. Wet the creased end with rubbing alcohol. Now gently insert the creased end into the memory card slot and move it in and out to clean the contacts. Remove and blow out with a can of compressed air to dry. Let sit a few minutes and then your cards again. You might want to clean their contacts as well with a clean rubber type eraser by gently rubbing the contacts on the cards.

Camera says "card error"

Either you have pulled it out of the computer without disconnecting the hardware with the little green Icon ( at the right hand side of the computer ).

Or if you just brought it inserted it into a camera and it said " Card Error " then the contact points need cleaning , if you need help respond and I am more than happy to help
