SOURCE: marco gas firplace
I also have a Marco fireplace with what sounds like the same setup as you. I've been digging for an owners manual myself for allowed clearances around the fireplace for wood mantles and such.
If the fireplace has a key valve it DOES NOT have a pilot. My fireplace has gas logs in it and I simply light a long match (or use one of those long necked stove lighting wands) stick it between the logs and turn on the gas. Make sure that the match doesn't extinguish as you poke it in between the logs (it may take 4-5 seconds before the gas lights up.) Also make sure that your flue is all the way open when using gas as your fuel.

Turn the knob on the gas valve to pilot, push in and hold. You can push the red button to light the flame, but I always use a flame lighter of some sort, just because its faster and the spar-ker may not be working. Anyway, push the button in, and hold it after the pilot flame is on for a minute or so then let up on the button. If it stays on turn the gas knob to on and that's it.

SOURCE: Marco gas fireplace shuts off
This an easy fix. What you must do is remove the dust from the pilot safety. I use rust buster from ace hardware to gently flush the hole. If ther is no hole just shoot a tiny drop or 2 into the pilot burner where the flame comes out. Blow it out (I use a piece of tubing). The problem is the dust drops the pilot flame to a point where it won't heat the thermocouple hot enough to jold the magnet and after 30 minutes she quits. THIS is a picture of where to clean the ODS pilots in your rig.

Look behind the ceraminc logs chained to the burner frame. They are metal plates with instructions. That is how mine is.
I am looking to get new doors for this model, no luck looking online. Any ideas?
