SGH-U600 - water damage

My phone got drowned after a bottle of water burst in my bag. I dried it out and charged it up and everything is fine apart from the keys. I can't type in new numbers or write messages.
Has anyone got any ideas?
(It's a work phone so I'm a bit worried!)

Try this :
This works on most mini electronic devices like cellular phones and degital cameras etc .

it sounds crazy .

Remove the back (or Cover ) of the phone( or Camera ), battery, and SIM if your phone ( or Device ) uses one , DIRECTLY
.

Then, with a q-tip (or something similar), dab the connection points (shiny, goldish) on the battery, SIM, and phone. This should aid in drying.

Finally, place all contents in a bag of uncooked rice (separately, do not put back together just yet). it sounds crazy , but it draws the moisture out.

It normally is working after just 7-8 hours, but I would wait 12 hours or even 24 hours before attempting to use (just to be sure).

beware the water damage, despite being dry now, will void any warranties. Also, the phone's hardware is now weakened and if you drop it, the green mother board and circuitry could shatter - so be more careful.

This does work on electronic devices aside from phones as well. Simply tailor it to your device. If you do not have a SIM (Verizon phones, cameras, all others), remove only the battery. If you have an iPhone/iPod or GPS and cannot remove the battery, simply make sure it is all the way off, then put it in the rice bag. All electronic devices react the same to the rice trick.

HOW TO REPAIR WATER DAMAGE GT-S5620 BRAND NEW

First of all, do not turn it on, it could cause more damage to your phone. Take out the battery, and completely dry the phone before trying to use again.
Here is the procedure to take out all moisture trapped in the phone: Dry the phone, battery, any accessory, etc. with cloth and wrap each piece, phone and accessories, in newspaper. Place a few handfuls of rice into a plastic bag and then place the wrapped phone in the bag with rice. The newspaper wrapping avoids direct contact of rice with your phone because the dust from the rice can get into the small areas of the phone. The newspaper and rice will absorb moisture. Leave it there (with the bag open) at least 24 hrs. Hope this helps!

I dropped my k850i in water. It started gradually working properly after a few days but it wont charge. Everything else works fine. It just doesn't recognise the charger which I know is working fine.

The phone really does need to be taken apart and cleaned properly using PCB cleaner and any IC's which are damaged need to be replaced, the more you put power into it before the damage is cleaned/repaired the more you are risking further damage...

If you havent done phone repairs before, try a decent local phone shop see if they can take a look at it for you.

If you want to try yourself let me know and I can try and find a guide for dissassembly for you, however I have to warn you a lot of the repairs we get everyday where people have done more damage to their phone by trying to repair it themselves, they are usually unrepairable or cost a lot more as more ends up being damaged than the original fault

Be sure that you don't power on the unit after it was dropped down into water.

Dry it first especially the parts inside must be dry and no water or any wet in the mainboard.

There's a possibility that you can still used your cp, but you have tobe sure for the 2nd time again i say this "the unit should be fully dry".
