How to restore sound to your laptop

INSTRUCTIONAL STEPS

  • Click on the "Start" button. This button can be found in the bottom-left corner of your computer screen.
  • 2 Clickon "Control Panel" to open to change the functionality of yourcomputer. The Control Panel is where you make changes to theappearance, functionality, add/remove programs, and set up networkconnections.
  • 3 Select "Hardware and Sound" from the list of options within Control Panel.
  • 4 Select "Manage Audio devices" from the "Sound" section on that screen
  • 5 Click on the icon for your computer's soundcard. This is usually indicated by the name "Internal Speaker and Headphone."
  • 6 Clickthe "Properties" tab to view the various settings for that device, thenselect "Use this device(enable)" in the "Device Usage" box. Yourcomputer soundcard's audio should now be restored.

    if you're on windows. Press the windows button in the bottom left corner of you screen, ten click on "pictures". If that does not show up then follow these little baby steps.

    Please tell me how to reboot my laptop

    If the operating system is Windows XP ...
    1. click the start button at the bottom left corner of the desktop
    2. at the bottom right of the start menu window that pops-up, click the Turn Off Computer button
    3. at the right side of Turn off computer window in the middle of the screen, click Restart button

    How to shut down a computer?

    1. Close any applications you have running, such as your email or instant messaging service, by clicking the "X" in the upper-right corner of each program page.

    2. Left-click your mouse on the Start button, typically found in the bottom-left corner of your computer screen.

    3. Highlight the option to "Shut Down" and left-click your mouse again to initiate the proper shutdown process.

    4. Wait until your computer logs you off of any applications, your computer screen goes blank and the power light turns off before you turn off your monitor or close your laptop.

    my hp pavillion dv6000 wont start normally. in safe mode will start but continues to request product key when i log in with my password.

    It seems to be an issue with some software that is conflicting with the operating system. I would advise you to clear the start first. The steps below would help you clear the start up.

    For XP:
    • Click on the start button(with the windows logo on it) on the bottom left corner of the screen.
    • Click on Run.
    • A small pop up box would open at the bottom left corner above the start button.
    • In the dialogue box beside "Open : " type "msconfig" and hit enter.
    • System Configuration Utility would open.
    • On the top menu, identify and click on Start up.
    • Now, click on the button "Disable All", at the bottom right corner. This will disable all the start up programs. However, you will still be able to access all those programs from Start->All Programs.
    • Click on "Apply" and then click on Ok/Close. If "Apply" is grayed out, click on Ok/Close. If administrator password is prompted, click OK and proceed with the steps below.
    • You would see another pop box with 2 options, "Restart" and "Exit Restart" or "Restart Later". Do not worry, if you do not get this option.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Immediately after your computer restarts, you will see a pop box. In that box, CLICK TO CHECK THE RADIO BUTTON AND ONLY THEN CLICK ON OK.
    • If you forget this step, you will have to start over again.
    • Your computer should have now booted to normal mode.
    For VISTA or Win 7:
    • Click on the Start button (with the windows logo on it).
    • Click on Start Search and type msconfig.
    • On the top, under programs, you will find a link for msconfig. Right click on msconfig and click on Run as administrator. Click on continue (in user account control box).
    • System Configuration Utility would open.
    • On the top menu, identify and click on Start up.
    • Now, click on the button "Disable All", at the bottom right corner. This will disable all the start up programs. However, you will still be able to access all those programs from Start->All Programs.
    • Click on "Apply" and then click on Ok/Close. If "Apply" is grayed out, click on Ok/Close. If administrator password is prompted, click OK and proceed with the steps below.
    • You would see another pop box with 2 options, "Restart" and "Exit Restart" or "Restart Later". Do not worry, if you do not get this option.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Your computer should have now booted to normal mode.
    If you still face the same problem, you can download and install the BIOS update.

    If any of the above steps do not work, then it could be an issue with windows updates and any other updates that might have created a conflict. In this case, restore the computer to an earlier date when it was working fine. For that, follow the steps below.
    For XP:
    • Click Start.
    • Click Help and Support.
    • Type system restore in the Search box, and then press ENTER.
    For Vista or Win 7:
    • Click Start vistastartbutton.jpg, type system restore in the Start Search box, and then click System Restore in the Programs list.
    • If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
    • In the System Restore dialog box, click Choose a different restore point, and then click Next.
    • In the list of restore points, click a restore point that was created before you began to experience the issue, and then click Next.
    • Click Finish.

    window is unable to connect wireless network

    2. Next, click Control Panel in the menu that appears.
    3. Now in the Control Panel window double click the Network & Sharing Center, and then click Manage Wireless Networks.
    4. Next, right click the wireless connection from the list that you want to use as your default wireless network and click Properties.
