Acer orbicam 5570 model.. some other application might be using it
I'm really getting annoyed by what is happening to my laptop.. anyway, my os is XP and my Acer is 5570..before, i wasn't experiencing any problem with my orbicam until the other day... it kept saying that another application might be using it but (as far as i know) there is no application open and i can't think of another application that might use it... the thing that pisses me off is that it reconnects by itself and then the beeping sound is continuous(like the sound when a flash drive is found and then removed... and that's for many times.!) I've tried to look for forums to help mw with this problem but as for now there is still no reply from them.. back to what i was explaining, there is another pop up window and in the title bar it says that "Sign in with Windows Live ID." I never get those before so now i'm wondering if this is done by a malware or something.. please help me.! i'm begging.! i don't know what to do when it comes to something like this...
When I try to use the webcam, I get the error message:
camera is in use by another application
even though there is no other application using it...

To disable all underground program from running click on start then on run then type MSCONFIG then ok it. a window will come out click on startup then click on disable all then ok. restart yr system i think it will resolve yr problem.

The Acer OrbiCam is a built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam mounted at the top of certain Acer laptops. The webcam can record video clips and integrate with instant messaging software. If you are trying to use your Acer OrbiCam but it won't connect, the driver--a small software file that tells the webcam what to do--may be outdated. Acer provides webcam driver update pages for the Aspire 9300 and Aspire 5570 versions.
1.Go to the Acer 5570 or Acer 9300 Driver Download page (see Resources). 2.Click "MS Windows XP" or "MS Windows Vista" on the drop-down menu, depending on your operating system. 3.Select "Acer OrbiCam Bison Driver" from the menu. 4.Click "Save File > OK" and wait for it to download. 5.Double-click on the downloaded setup files to install the driver. 6.Go back to the Acer Downloads page, and select "Acer OrbiCam Driver Bison Utility 188.8.131.52" from the drop-down menu. 7.Click on "Save File > OK" and wait for it to download. Double-click on the downloaded setup files to install the driver. 8.Restart the computer.

1. remove the installed OrbiCam application and reboot if required; 2. install the new driver (preferably with the “driver update” wizard from Device Manager) 3. update the Orbicam application 184.108.40.206 This worked for me.. Un-installed the drivers and utilities for the camera. Went here .. http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5100.html downloaded and installed the Bison 220.127.116.11a driver. (using the right click as mentioned by TimC). Tested working fine with C:\Windows\BisonXXX …now just to get it working with messenger and Logitech QuickCAM 10.5 for Vista…I’ll keep you posted. Cheers For those still wondering how to get your Acer OrbiCam - Logitech to work, I have searched the world over with far too many times failing to get my Aspire 5670 to recognize and work with its built-in webcam. But recently I was fortunate enough to finally find out that installing the latest drivers didn’t work at all whereas a particular old one worked well both on XP and Vista OS.
Download the zip file then save all contents in a folder that you will browse to use later.
Do not use the setup.exe from that folder. It won’t work… Just go to Device Manager and Uninstall your current driver of Acer OrbiCam. Then click, Update Driver, and point to the folder of those unzip files. Let it install then restart your computer.
When the computer restarts go to Skype or any communication/camera software you’re using and set the video camera. Voila, this time you will see the video coming on to the screen after about 10-15 seconds of black screen.
I have to thank that site for the download.
Last but not least, please remember that this one driver (version 18.104.22.1680) works very well on both XP and Vista… You don’t need to update it to any other higher version!
As for other Acer Aspire models, just check other pages from that website… I have no way of knowing since I only have my model. But I think you will be able to make use of your OrbiCam once again.

PS I think if you get only that driver file (version 22.214.171.1240) from the link after unzipping, please see whether putting only that driver in a new folder and install in Device Manager will get your camera to work too. If so, it will be nice for you to just upload that driver file and paste your link here so that others can just download this file and not all others from the link above. Seeing it used to work, have you tried doing a System Restore? If you can remember when this started happening, you may be in luck. Just hold down your Windows key (usually between the CTRL and ALT keys on your keyboard) and hit the PAUSE-BREAK key. Then, click on START | PROGRAMS | ACCESSORIES | SYSTEM TOOLS and choose System Restore. If you have a restore point around or before the date this problem happened, click on it and let it go through its steps. Try that.
You need to download the drivers for your webcam for windows Vista. Go here and choose your computer. In the right box, choose Acer Orbicam (logitech). That is the vista driver. Download and install it. There you go :c)
that happens to me sometimes with other programs. sometimes when you exit the camera, it doesnt completely exit. you have go to TASK MANAGER, then applications, there you can completely stop the application, and it wil open for you.
OK, your problem is not software related. I have visited this page and around 10 others, and done everything to find a solution. Well it has worked for me, and I am taking my laptop to ACER soon as i have found out the problem. Open your Acer Orbicam application and while it says camera not found or whatever grip your camera tight as if trying to close the casing. Twist it both clockwise and anticlockwise and try to nudge it right and left. I believe by carrying it in our backpacks or something the camera messes up with the pressure of other items. That i think is the reason why with their new laptops ACER has discontinued the swivel cam, the new series has fixed cams. So, try this fix and I think it should work becase I had the same problem and it worked. And after that if you still have the warranty go and get it fixed by ACER.
