Question about Televison & Video

Television lines I "inherited" a sony kv-36fs76u from my "hi tech" brother in law when he emigrated to usa last year.(its about 3-4 years) It is a very heavy tv and difficult to move around. Anyhow the problem im having is lines sometimes faint, thin and slow other times thick dark bands-these seem to be rolling from top to bottom of screen. Not always there when tv is switched on but always appear within 3 hours.I paid a local tv engineer £30 he came out took back off tv-dont know what he did but the lines stopped Until he drove out the street then they returned.I called him again and he said i needed a sony engineer. Is this a big problem or easily - inexpensively sorted,I dont know how much i will be charged and i dont know whether to just dump the Tv.I know my brother in law paid a lot for it.

I have a sony kv 36fs76u, Which works fine for 2 or 3 minutes, then it slowly develops horizontal lines, which rotate forwards and backwards. If the tv is turned off for a while and cools the picture is ok when turned on for the first few minutes, then the lines return.

My friend has traced the fault ....as the fault occurred when the tv warmed up, it is due to a component getting too warm. He used a hoover with a plastic nozzle attatchment to **** cold air around each chip, (one at a time). Like magic the horizontal lines slowly dissappeared. The chip (voltage regulator) was replaced. TV is now fine.

This sounds like a bad cap in the power supply. The component is only starting to fail under load and heat. I'll look up your specific model and see if there have been any reports of this type of problem.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Can I recharge a Sony CRT ? or deep six?

Most shops have a unit made by B&K for testing recharging crts.

We call it hitting a tube, but most of the time if it works it will last less than a year.

I have done it many times with customer approval and the results can be dramatic.

Considering the age of this set you may just want to let it go.....

My fax machine rarely gets used --maybe 20 times in 3 years i have bought 3 new toner cartridges because they seem to dry out,, i have removed and shaken it to get SOME ink out. Is it the drum , am i...

That really sux. No way should these cartridges fail unless they are totally out of toner.

A drum should last 12,000 prints.

Are they refills or Genuine Brother cartridges?

I would email Brother Tech Support on this issue.

SONY KV-XF21N90 WON'T TURN ON, Blinks 5 times

Hi,
5 times flashing light shows following possible problems in your tv..

• G2 is improperly adjusted.

• CRT problem.

• Video OUT IC1800 is faulty.(C5 board)

• IC301 is faulty. (A board)

Most probably cause is G2 voltage adjustment. If you know how to do it, please go ahead or look a tv tech around.

KV-35V65 Triniton Color TV.

CRT is probably going bad... You can talk to several Techs and they'll each give you their theory on what to do about it and some will say have it rejuvenated. But in the twenty years I've been in business it's never worth the money or effort...
If you elect to do so a tech can come out to the home (for a fee) and bring with him/her a crt tester/restorer, like a BK-467. They'll attach it to the cack of the picture tube, do a few measurements for emmission and shorts, then attempt to restore it... Now that may well look like a pretty good picture when they leave and it may last you a year or two - but the down side is it may fail again in less than an hour and you're back to square one, out the money for a service-call as well.
My best advice is start shopping for a new TV and maximize your investment...
Hope this helps!

Sony 32" trinitron kv=32fs16 tv problem.

I had the same problem 3 years ago. I called in a Sony tech and he said this was a common problem with this model. He replaced several resistors and resoldered several "Coaled Solder" connections. The repair ran $187 but the set has run great ever since!
