Question about Toro Lawn Mower With Toro Power Tools

1 Answer

There is a loud clunking sound coming from the left wheel of my toro self paced mower. The noise is more profound when the mower is not on and engaged...when i pushed it back into the garage. It also feels like it is hindering that wheel from moving freely. The mower is just over a year old and seems to have had too many problems. My yard does have a lot of sandy/dirt patches in the shady areas that I try to avoid but can't completely. Could that be the root of these problems? Thank you very much for any help you can offer

I would suggest trying to take the wheel off and see what seems to be causing the noise/catching. Might have a rock/pebble in there causing the issue. Might need to see about cleaning/lubricating while in there. Good Luck.

Toro model 20332. Have put new transmission, belt and new drive wheels on back. When I use the personal pace bar it makes a grinding noise. Doesnt make noise unless I push that down.

Sounds like either the gears on the wheels or ends of the trans shaft are bad, or the internals of the trans are bad. Are the parts actually new-new, or used and new to the machine, you didn't specify. What happens when you manually spin the pulley on the top of the trans in either direction?

Sounds like they need cleaning & oiling. Check that nothing is keeping it from moving. I have ran over string or cord before & got caught and wrapped around wheel.

I have a Toro mower made in 5/09 self propel system it grinds when you pull it in reverse. The selp propel is not working. The belt is on. and it seems to be only the left rear wheel? The cable is not...

Yes it is the transmission. A Mower shop will charge you about $225 to fix.. I order parts online and fixed mine for $90. Transmission consist of 3 gears which turns the rear wheels to self-propel.

Toro Personal Pace sounds like it is running at half power

got oil in it, or do you add oil. Left outside alot, fuel line clogged. Is the gas old. Check the blades and the exit portion of the clippings. Does it have a drive train for ease of moving. those can bog down a mower. good luck

My toro self propelled lawn mower won't roll backwards... the wheels are locked up

My Toro Pace Master self propelled 22" 6.75 mower will not move by itself. I can push the mower and cut. It does start with no problem. I have a cable on left side of the mower that extends to the top of the handle broken off at the top of the mower and is loose. Is there a way to check to see if this is why it will not self propel. It attaches to the push handle that does I push down to propel the mower. Any suggestions?

Toro Personal Pace self propel problem.

Your self-propel is probably belt driven. Belts can make an awfully lot of noise when unhappy. Possible it has rolled over and is running on the wrong side of the belt or is worn and just needs replaced. Hope this helps.,

SELF PROPELL NOT WORKING GOOD

Have you checked the belt that drives the wheel? This is more than likely the problem. It may be broken.
