Question about GE Monogram ZICS360NRRH C... Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

2 Answers

We replaced the gasket today around the bottom drawer freezer on GE Monogram. The problem was that it was split and we thought that was reason it was not sealing. However, it still does not appear to seal on right-hand side - not enough pull from magnet? All baskets & drawers were removed, cleaned & replaced properly and seal near door fridge hinge side of freezer not sealing.

Did you ever find a resolution to this problem? We have the same problem, the gasket has been replaced but it still doesn't seal at the top. Our freezer is full of snow.

Use a hairdryer to soften the gasket until it pulls itself to the metal frame all around the gasket .

After heating the gasket until it seals , wait for the rubber to cool before opening the door . Also , putting a light coat of mineral oil on the hinge side of the gasket , will help it slide easier ( instead of pulling ) while opening and closing the door .

Temperature control

The freezer is usually cooled by the compressor, the fridge is then cooled by an evaporator fan motor ($30). If this fan seizes or slows down then the fridge warms up (it sometimes starts squealing before this happens). The fan may spin, but it if goes too slowly, then it would blow enough cool air into the fridge, especially if it is opened quite frequently.

If you think it is the evaporator fan motor:
Check to be sure you can get a replacement fan first, they last about 4 - 5 years. Can get from a parts supplier or electric motor company.
UNPLUG fridge. Located usually in top of freezer behind a vented cover plate. Remove cover, remove screws holding fan in, may have to cut wires. Replace with new motor, make sure the fan pushes air into the freezer area and doesn't spin backward drawing air from the freezer area.

Kitchenaid bottom drawer freezer is making frost or ice flakes inside. Why?

If frost is front towards door then the seal is not sealing well . Use a hair dryer on portion which is not touching cabinet . Also check for split somewhere on gasket & if found , replace gasket . If frost on the rear wall of freezer , then a defrost problem could be starting in which the fridge section would be warming up . However , bottom freezers are known for their gaskets not to seat properly .

Ice build up bottom of freezer and water on floor GE Monogram

I had the same problem. The drain tube is located below the pan below the fins at the rear of your freezer. The drain tube has a trap (s-shaped curve) to prevent air flow out of the freezer. The problem is that water gets in this tube and freezes. I took the sheet metal cover off the back, got a turkey baster and flexible tube, and continuously flushed hot water (after the freezer had been turned off around an hour to thaw). Eventually the plug gave way.

Sounds like the ice door in the dispenser isn't closing properly or all the way which lets warm air in condensates then freezes.
