Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a samsung syncmaster flatscreen monitor which was working fine one minute, then when i went out the room and came back 5 mins later, the screen was blank and i couldn't seem to get it to display anymore. The pc was still running. The power light on the monitor was flashing (it does this on standby when pc is switched off but monitor is on). I disconnected the monitor from the pc and a little box appeared on the screen saying "searching for signal" or something like that. This message disappeared when i reconnected the monitor to the pc. Obviously without being able to see what i'm doing i couldn't shut down the pc properly and so had to switch off via the mains. Now when i switch the mains on the pc starts running automatically but still will not display..... HELP PLEASE? Does this sound like a monitor problem or a pc problem? Thanks

Hi, thanks but i'm not sure what you mean by the video jack connector? Do you mean the lead connecting my monitor to my pc? I have no jack leads coming from my pc.

The only other thing i can think of is that my wireless mouse and keyboard have failed for some reason and therefore i can't get out of powersave?

My 22" dell lcd flatscreen monitor just went out

I know it sounds stupid, but check all the cables and connection. Also make sure the cables are in good order.

Now with that out of the way. Is it getting any lights or indications of power at all? If so it could be a cable or connection point.

Worse case senerio, if your not getting any lights or indications of power (sometimes it seems like it should turn on) the monitor may have had a capacitor or power supple unit failure.

LCD can go out like that from long use or heat. If its older than 4 years its possible its done.
You can have someone open it up and check for budging or bad capacitors. This may be a cheaper option if you have someone is town.

Sorry to hear about the monitor. Good luck!

I have a desktop computer that will not work right. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 220 wm, and my tower is a Dell. Whenever I hook it up the monitor will come on for a minute then shut right back off...

I had a similar problem with Samsung Syncmaster. There was no solution but to replace the dying monitor. However, you said that plugging your mouse into your computer caused the monitor to not function at all, or maybe i misunderstood you and the problem was with the mouse. If the mouse is causing problems than the problem is likely with the computer and not the monitor. Try plugging a different computer into the monitor to identify which is the cause of the problem. Hope this helps.

Samsung syncmaster 953bw

Oct 23, 2009- This is how it went for me..I have a Samsung SYNCMASTER2.gif 2053BW. I leave my monitor on and let it hybernate when I shut down PC. I'm 3 months outside of my warranty. Two weeks ago something started happening. I boot PC and video doesn't come up for 10 minutes, and when it came up it worked perfect. VC/Monitor/MB?? It became 20 minutes and ...now..I have the analog/digital box in top left screen, power light on monitor flashing, no menu available on monitor and none of the other buttons work for anything. I test the monitor on Laptop..nothing(same as above)..I break out the old(working) monitor from deep within the closet. Plug it in and I'm up and running. So...

HOW TO OPEN A SYNCMASTER 2053BW

NO SCREWS!!! Assuming that the stand mount has been pulled out..The seam around the screen frame is where you start. The frame has the prongs, the back cover has what the prongs slip over. The frame is coming off first! I got the side to open by finger, then used a small standard screwdriver to pry ever so gently(lifting frame from rearcover). Leave the power button assembly on the frame, pull wire only a little to relax any tension..you get about 3/4" in extra taped to panel. The hard part is done.;) Still holding the frame...Now lift the panel (where the power button assembly wiring goes under panel) with the power housing that is under it as a whole and you will see where the powerbuttonassemble detaches.Remove frame. Now..holding edges of panel into back cover, lift and flip the whole thing over and place panel face down on a perfectly flat surface..a towel on my desk works. Lift and remove back cover.Your now looking at the back of the board housing. The ribon is simple, on the panel end of the ribon, squeez the outer clips together and slide it away against the panel..The secondary tin plate is removable, two clips super close to where the sets of wires come around the housing and into the panel.Unhook the 4 plugs(pink inside/blue outside)...Now lift the power housing off of the panel. The big board has the power. One screw to remove a ground plate first. Two screws to remove power board. Pics from phone.56ec44b.jpg

Reassemble but DO NOT re-snap the frame into place....yet... Test it! There is a reason the caps got hot in the first place, therfore it has a good chance of happening again. This is not fullproof...but.....mine has been on now for close to 6 hours with no glitches whatsoever. So I have resnapped mine back together. I hope you can too. Oct 23, 2009- I must also add that this is one of the best producing monitors I have ever seen...in 60hz. The clarity is top notch. If you purchase one get the extended warranty. FYI...I paid $4.00 for those caps.

Repair samsung SyncMaster 175v lcd flat screen went black right after it start

usually that is an indication that the back lights on your monitor is not illuminating your screen.... here's a test start up your machine and look at the monitor real close.... or shine a flash light at it... you may see your desktop afintly... which means your monitor may need a new inverter board or possible to change some capacitors on it.

you can also try another monitor just to make sure it is ur monitor which is problematic

Samsung SyncMaster 931BF 19" Monitor. Screen was working fine. But now after raising the resolution past 1280X1024, the screen wouldn't display anything. I tried it on my older monitor, a CRT. It...

This is because your screen is not compatible with any resoultion past 1280 x 1024. Look at your screen's specifications here: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200602/20060210090838125_BN59-00521A-01Eng.pdf (Page 76 listed as Maximum resolution)

If you want to go past that, you must purchase and/or use a different monitor. Just be sure to look at the Maximum Resolutions BEFORE you purchase a new monitor!

I have a SyncMaster as well, and it has been fine for 5 years. What you are describing sound like the backlight is getting dimmer, which is either a power supply or control board, neither of which are easy to replace. With good monitors getting below $150, I would have a hard time spending too much money to get an old monitor fixed.

It seems like a lot of people have experienced this issue after a year or two of use. There are two things people reported working...

Try adjusting the refresh rate higher or lower... 60Hz is usually stable in any resolution.

Completely unplug monitor for 5 minutes or longer. Seems like it works for some and not others.

Samsung has a 3 year warranty. If neither solution works, see if it is still under warranty.

Good luck!

First make sure all cables are tight and secured, and try pressing the Auto Button on your Syncmaster? It's for auto configuration.

If problem persist and if possible can you try using another known normal monitor/LCD? Also try your monitor using another cpu or laptop.
