Papa you don't give alot of information to try to guess what is wrong. How old are the batteries? If 2 years or older probably time for new ones. Is the charger working correctly? Does the yellow light turn green after charging overnite. If not it could be a bad charger. Of course it could be both time for new batteries and a new charger My best guess is that you need new batteries. If Medicare paid for your chair then they will pay for most of the cost of new batteries. Youe chair uses 2 U1 batteries and if there is a battery warehouse or store in your area they should have the batteries also check for an Interstate store that can get you the batteries. New Battery in May. Drove 60 mi. Mon. AM. On short trip in PM, battery light came on for about 1 mile. Does that every time. Lights, radio, fan, OK No problem in starting the car.


The battery light signifies the battery is not being charged. you either have a transient fault with the alternator, or rectifier circuit, or number one suspect is that the belt that drives the alternator is slipping for a mile, warms up and then grips. Look at the belt when the light is on and see if it looks like it is slipping. You can buy cans of belt conditioner spray that help the belt to grip.

Also make sure the battery connections are tight.

Hi David, and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition or leaking.
3. Spark plug gap to close or to wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Damaged wire or loose connections at battery terminals,
ignition coil, or plug between ignition sensor and module.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Water or dirt in fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor.
12. Loose or dirty ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, and or CMP sensors.
14. Incorrect valve timing.
15. Weak or broken valve springs.
16. Damage intake or exhaust vale.

sir,there are 2 reason
1. please check bolts of small fuse connecter near the battery ,sometimes it get loose ,ectually that is main positive connecter to battery
2.please replug the rectifier-regulater cuplers ,otherwise you need to replace the regulater

Many cars have the cooling fan on a thermostat or time delay, to allow it to run for a short period of time after the engine turns off, to cool the engine off. You may have just never noticed it before. So I wouldn't worry about that.
Your real problem is the blowing fuses, apparently you have a short somewhere in your wiring. Putting in bigger and bigger fuses is a great way to set fire to your wiring harness. It's possible that the wire is pinched or chafed somewhere, and perhaps when you hit a bump just right, it touches and shorts.
You may have to take this to the Chevy dealer or a GOOD independent shop to have them chase it down. Unless someone out there knows exactly what this is, it could be a tough one to find.

sounds like you may have damaged the stator or another part of the ignition system when it shorted. the bike will only run while the battery has power as it is not being charged when the bike is running. when my stator went on the Harley it collapsed the battery and the bike just stopped, all the acid went over my primary cover and ruined the chrome, it was 1 week out of warranty at the time

This car might not get enough exercise. By that I mean there are things that are running all the time, remote entry systems, clocks, alarm systems. You may have a new battery, but it needs to be kept up to snuff. Sitting alone in the garage with NOTHING running, the battery will lose about 1% per month in ideal circumstances. As I said, your battery is powering all kinds of things while sitting in the garage so the drain is more than the 1% I mentioned. You may want to consider a trickle charger on this car if you are not able to drive it for at least 20 miles or more per week every week.

It seems your average mileage is just under 150 per week. I'm guessing you don't drive this car much on short trips, rather the bulk of your miles were highway on trips.

Hi, Sounds like a shorted diode in the alternator which would actually drain the battery. Pull the battery cable while the vehicle is running, if the alternator has a short it will stop as if you turned off the key. Good Luck!

Sounds like the battery to me.

Have they done a heavy discharge test on your battery at the garage, and can assure you it is 1OO% ?

The alternator is supposed to keep the battery topped up on charge nicely, even if it is only a few mile run every day, with your head lamps and heater going full blast, and then your fan runs on after switch off.
By the way it should only run for short time, how long have you heard yours run ?
Possibly the thermal switch is staying on too long ?

Did they test your charging rate on your alternator too, at your garage ?

How old is the battery ?

Is it of recommended type ? and not a cheepie from Halfords ?
